Swansea City AFC

Last season:
After two great seasons with Brendan Rodgers and then Michael Laudrup managing the club they were last year struggling a lot more. Being in the Europa League combined with a few injuries on key players such as Michu didn’t help and finally Laudrup was fired with a couple of months left of the season. After being involved in the relegation battle they managed to get four wins out of the last seven matches and finish in the 12th spot.

2014/15-season preview:
Gary Monk went straight from playing to managing in something that from outside looked like a interim manager-solution until the summer came. But the club was impressed with his results and handed him a new 3-year contract. Despite the loss of Michu to Napoli and the duo of Ben Davies and Michael Vorm to Spurs the teams has brought in a couple of exciting recruitments like former Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski, Ecuadorian World Cup winger Jefferson Monteiro and the come backing Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson. They have also brought in Lyon striker Gomis who is seen as replacement for Michu.

Player profile:
Wilfried Bony was the striker who put the national hero Didier Drogba on the bench in the Ivory Coast World Cup team. Clubs such as Liverpool and Tottenham have been rumoured to be very keen on the strong striker who scored 16 goals during his debut season in the Premier League. If he is still in the squad by the time the window closes the club can expect him to keep on scoring goals for them this season.

Summary:
After last years disappointing campaign the club is now rebuilding and the aim is to get to the top half of the table again. To succeed with that the new players must hit the ground running for the Swans this year.

Prediction:
13th place

Betting suggestion:
Wilfried Bony Top goalscorer @29.00

Swansea City have defied my expectations in the last two seasons but i wonder if this is the season that the wheels come well and truly off. I think they could be worth a bet to be relegated

Swansea have a lot of decent players and two excellent managers,Rodgers and Laudrup in recent times but it looks like they have decided their only priority is to survive another season in the premiership.
Most of their exciting players look to have decided to leave and the choice of manager in Monk is hardly ambitious. As for the new signings like Fabianski,Emnes and Siggurdson, that does not look like a team trying to excite and achieve a top 10 finish.
Bony as top scorer could be a decent E/W bet but only if he leaves for Liverpool or spurs.

Great tip by the VIP blog in suggesting a Swansea win at the odds of 9/1. I hope that these blogs are every week because they are a insightful read and i would like to see them being a regular occurance on this site

@klash- siggurdson actually looks a wonderful signing to me, very talented, creative, good pace and a proven product in this team already. if bony leaves (which is just a matter of time imo) then there is gomis who is good enough to replace him on a similar level. before laudrup and rogers they had martinez as well- however when they had martinez and then rogers- both of these dudes where not top managers as we know them today... so who knows maybe this monk dude is gonna be the new gem... chairman has the sniff to spot talents

yeah thanks for the bet mate, Bony at 26 looks a good value bet if you also place it like an each way bet, 4 places at most places, so definitely possible this season as they got new players as you mentioned, also they just won their opening game , so maybe ride with this confidence for a few matches and Bony to score some goals. Also one bet i would like to share is Alexis Sanchez to bet top assist ew at 25. Should be good value already got one, so odds probably slashed so get on if it has not. Cheers good luck guys!

Hey pochui-I have to admit the way Siggurdson played yesterday was excellent compared to what he did at Spurs.A good start by Swansea but I feel there is something desperately wrong with Manchester United and cannot understand why they had not signed any more players before the start of the season.
Herrara has not looked very confident in the team and while Shaw is probably a decent player but seems very overpriced.
