Summer Olympics - RIO 2016

Tags: 2016., Betting, Olympics. Summer Olympics, Rio 2016. Rio.
Posted on Thursday, August 04, 2016 by "K".

Can you hear the trumpets?  Can you see the burning flame? - It's the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil. Four years since the last Olympics in London that surely no one has forgotten. History is made and legends are born at these games, and it's time to see who will win Gold for their countries.

This is a quick review for the Summer Olympics in Rio 2016, where we will show you some of the sports, that you might never have heard about before and some of the games, that you have never been able to place bets on, except from the Olympics.

The Olympics is the only time a year, where it is possible to place bets on Gymnastics, on Pole Vaulting (except from big, big events) from Canoe sailing to shooting and much more. These sports are rarely something the bookies are working with everyday, and that's why The Olympics can be very profitable to ben on. You just need to do you reasearch on the smaller sports, and then you can be a step ahead of the bookies.

Below here is a list of all sports at The Summer Olympics 2016 in Rio.

All Sports at Rio 2016 Summer Olympics:

Archery
Athletics
Badminton
Basketball
Boxing

Bet on Summer Olympics 2016 in Rio

The Olympics is fantastic to place bets at because of two reasons. First of all, most bets are finished quickly. If you bet on a 100 sprint, it will only take 9 seconds to find out if you win or not. And second of all, the bookmakers are not very good at placing their odds on these events.

They have events that they have never placed any bets on before. Many of these athletes may never have met eachother, or maybe last meeting was 4 or 8 years back. That's the only data bookmakers has avaliable and that is not much. Of course they don't do mistakes on every sport and race. But if you look closely and search through bookmakers, you will often see, that they are far away from eachother.

If we take a Premier League football match between Man United and Man City. You will see that bookies maybe has a slight difference of up to 0.20-0.30 on the different outcomes. But when it comes to the Olympics, there is a good chance, that one bookmaker might have odds 2.00 on an athlete while the odds bookmaker has odds 4.00. If you see that most of the market is on 2.00, and you find odds 4.00, they quick bet on it. There's a good chance that the last bookmaker made a mistake and you can profit on this.

Also you might be able to find informations on injuries and more. If you know a runner to be injured, or to have been injured most of the year, and he is still favorite? Maybe it's a good idea to go with the second favorite instead. Often at the Olympics, bookies usually go with the hard cold stats and they are not always reliable.

If a sprinter has his Personal Best (PB) at a time 1.10.15, and the second favorite has a personal best at 1.11.00, you would obviously think that sprinter one is the one to win. But what if you know, that sprinter to is in form and sprinter one has not delievered better than 1.11.5 in his latest races? Well then you should think twice before putting your money on him.

What bookmakers should i choose for Summer Olympics 2016 in Rio?

We think the biggest and best bookmaker to go with is Bet365. They have bets on almost all events and a lot of them will go live. So if you are sitting in your couch or infront of your computer, you can place bets while watching the events.

Bet365:

Another great bookmaker would be Unibet. Unibet also has a lot of the events and a lot of liveodds. And one good thing with these to bookmakers in particulary is, that they are often far away from eachother on the odds. So when you see a high odds on Bet365, it might be low at Unibet and the other way around, so if you have an account at both bookmakers you are in very good!

Unibet:

When does the Olympics 2016 Rio start ?

Officially the Olympics being on Saturday with the big opening ceremony. But in fact the Olympics has already begun. Yesterday was the unofficial opening of the Olympics in Rio, when the Womens Football tournament started. Sweden vs South Korea was the first match, followed by Brazil - China, Germany - Zimbabwe and United States vs New Zealand.

Today the Mens Football tournament will begin, while also some of the Gymnastics will start. So the Olympics has already started, but officially the beginning will be on Saturday with the big traditional ceremony.

What do you look forward to for the Olympics?

With the Olympics starting on Saturday and the Football tournament already started we are headed for a month with sports everyday. What do YOU look forward to at this Olympics? Which sport in particulary and do you have any tips for us?

I watched yesterday football matches at the Olympics in Rio , good game showed almost all only Brazil I was disappointed , Neymar has played well , had a fantastic shot, others were very bad Shock
and what to say to Fiji received 8 goals and it could have been much more
 pochui8/5/2016 3:40:51 PM GMT
well football @olymypics is a joke, so what i have left is to watch some basketball... a few non competitive games including us of a vs remaining of the world who think they know how to play this game.. a few 40+ points wins and another set of gold medals collected... how thrilling...

I love the Olympic Games. However I will not be watching the football, tennis, or golf. These are sports where the Olympics are NOT the pinnacle. The rest of the sports are amazing in such an event truely creating the best in the world. I will be making sure to watch all water events incl rowing, canoeing, triathlon and also the gymnastics and athletics as they are pure Olympic sports

I am looking forward to the swimming events at this year's games. I hope Michael Phelps wins the men's butterfly and breaks the world record again.

Isn't he had a truckload of gold already?
Why not rooting for somebody from the UK instead? Adam Peaty not good enough for you?

Bowie...... Enjoy the games and stay open minded for sport.

Footy, golf and tennis shouldn't be in the olympics....... Unless it's made up of people who don't or have never played in the professional game or in a major.

I agree. A lot of these sports i would probably never watch when outside of the Olympics. But hell yeah, i'm going to watch some canoeing while drinking a pint !

It's sport...lets make the most of it!

Yeah, but why rooting for somebody who does not need your 'support'?

today for me big suprise was draw in water polo between serbia and hungary 13:13!we are first favourites and ofcourse I expected win, even on other side is hungary!hungary had lead by 4 goals,so this result is good at end!
 vaci388/6/2016 5:24:51 PM GMT

is a very surprising result , I know that the Serbian water polo favorites for the gold medal , but at the beginning of the tournament they will surely get their game in the coming matches, will surely make it to the finals Big Smile
 pochui8/6/2016 7:42:46 PM GMT
heard today from radio that half of worlds population watched the opening ceremony of olympic games... whooping news... i never imagined that half or more of worlds population actually have a way to get to a tv... especially for such an important even like the opening ceremony of olympic games... spectacular...
 Mober8/7/2016 8:48:55 PM GMT
If that is true i belong to the half that didnt watch it Smile
Just saw a few minutes of it from internet videos.
To be honest i got really bored with it. At the end is the same things
over and over again, with some variations. Better watch a movie than this Smile
 pinotte8/8/2016 12:21:21 AM GMT
Last night i was watching the Olympic games and it was the female rugby 7 Canada vs Japan and the Canadians won 45 to 0.

The thing is i don't know anything about this sport and even did not know that we had playing this here in Canada.

I am a bit shy to mention here that i am nul in sports. Aww crap! Aww crap!
 pochui8/8/2016 7:13:11 AM GMT
oh boy oh boy what excitement awaits us all @the olympic games in rio... single sculls rowing, double sculls rowing, lightweight four rowing, modern pentathlon, epee/foil/sabre individual and team fencing, and don't forget canoeing and judo... oh and there's weightlifting too... such a trilling array of events...
 doubletop7778/8/2016 8:14:35 AM GMT
I am loving all the Olympic sports so far. I was watching the fencing for hours yesterday and, even though i didnt have a clue what was going on, i was loving every minute of it. I also enjoyed the Archery competitions as well
 Tony_MON7ANA8/8/2016 8:30:15 AM GMT
Aged 13 years, Nepal's Gaurika Singh is the youngest of the more than 10,000 athletes at Rio 2016. Yesterday, she came 32rd out of 34 competitors trying to qualify for the 100-meter backstroke. The result was not exactly what she had hoped it would be, but she has had an invaluable experience of elite competitions.
Wishing her every success in all of her future endeavors.

for serbia this olympic didnt start good and after last night and djokovic lost who know what will happen till end of games!cant believe how good del potro played, like he didnt have pause for few years!his was great and can describe how sad I am beacuse of nole!
 Mober8/8/2016 9:11:30 PM GMT
This time of year, it is difficult watching tv Smile
Lots more things to do that are far more interesting.
Some say to watch to support the athletes.
Like if we dont watch them over the tv they wont be able to win Smile

Del Potro sent him home in 2012 London as well, so I guess it was not all that surprising the second time...
Some value might be find in the 200m Mens Butterfly swimming race before the semi-finals 2 be held a couple hours from now... Put your house/car/mother-in-law/lifesavings onto Phelps before it's not too late.
None of the two hungarian guys swam with confidence and Phelps looked very comfy and laid back, i think this race is him to loose again. The odds does not says so, this is why I think he is value at this point.
 vaci388/9/2016 10:09:56 AM GMT

dule - vu is not only djokovic , basketball player I was unpleasantly surprised last night , how could they play so poorly in key moments , I think it will not go well at the Olympic Basketball Tournament , as they have a positive result was good , when they started to lose not able to return to the match Angry
 dule-vu8/9/2016 4:05:27 PM GMT
dont know whats happening with whole olympic team of serbia!even in water polo we played two games draw in row!this never happend in history of our water polo and we are european, world and world league champions!only need this olympic to have every title in same time!
what to say about basketball!womens yesterday had 18 point lead and even that didnt be enough, they lost againts canada!mens basketball, had tied game, had lead and they lost 15 difference on end,so result isnt fair, but they didnt play good!now everybody can see how much marijanovic missing!
so dont want to watch olympic games, where serbia play, beacuse I will lose all of my nervs!
 Tony_MON7ANA8/10/2016 8:33:00 AM GMT
Uzbekistan gymnast Oksana Chusovitina is competing in her seventh Olympics this year at the age of 41. She is the oldest woman to ever compete at the Olympics. I believe many of Oksana Chusovitina’s rivals in Rio were not even born when she appeared at 1992 summer Olympic in Barcelona.
 dule-vu8/10/2016 4:34:07 PM GMT
today for serbia is very good day,we can watch lot of games!first we play with france in mens basketball, then womens volleyball with usa, then women basketball at 20:30 against usa and late night water polo with brasil!hope that water polo will wake up and finaly get first win after two draw!
 vaci388/10/2016 7:48:14 PM GMT
not only Serbia , but also many other favorites on the summer Olympic Games are below their levels today handball players of Montenegro lost from Romania , I think they do not have a victory , yesterday I watched women's football usa against colombia , what to say colombian had 2 cross from free kick reached the 2 goals , goalkeeper from usa team is very beautiful girl, but as a goalie is a disaster , see what kind of goals received Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile

Sitting in bed in a hotel room posting in this here forum and watching the men's all around gymnastics..... GB Hasn't won a medal in this for over 100 years.... We're in with a chance with two Brits who are giving it a good go, but it's not and tuck at the moment. Fingers crossed we can do it!

Considering all the money which started pouring into certain sports in Britain right when they knew London won the bid for the Olympics so they have to compete so many levels above their usual - it not really a surprise GB now has many capable sportsmen and women to compete 4 medals in areas they weren't really keen on participating before...
Congrats 4 that bronze!
 dule-vu8/11/2016 5:24:02 PM GMT
from yesterday I will not watch serbia at olympics anymore!what a bad day!I didnt expect women basketball win over america and women volleyball with amertica, but to lose men basketball against france in last attack and to lose water polo against brasil is too much for me Angry
 vaci388/11/2016 5:56:36 PM GMT
hahah dule - vu do not watch over this shame as prepared athletes Serbia , every day a new disaster , I do not know what is going on , whether they think of the sea and the beach , but provide poor it or something else is concerned I do not know just a lot of bad in every sport

They will get them in the finals if they keep playing like the San Antonio Spurs Big Smile

Despite the cynicism about pumping money into sport, one of things that the olympics has generated is a whole load of interst in sports of all kinds in UK. So much so that many lard arses have got their asses from in front of the sofa and have taken up a sport... Invarriably it's a sitting down sport, cycling, rowing etc but hey it's sport...... And being third on the medals table is right up there where we belong. Keep moving Britain. Worship Worship Worship
 TheMachineQC8/14/2016 6:39:58 PM GMT
Who do you guys think is gonna win the male tennis finals? Andy Murray or Juan Martin Del Potro?

Normally I would say Murray wins easily but Del Potro has been playing awesome tennis in this tournament. Taking out Djokovic and then Nadal was pretty impressive!!

But Murray is one tricky guy and has the perfect style to counter his... we'll see I guess ^^

Andy already has this title from 2012 so I think the game was more important for Del-Potro especially seeing that his country may not have this much of a shot for a gold on this olympic games again.
 damosk8/15/2016 9:16:38 AM GMT
Did you see that game? 4 hours of awful and yet brilliant tennis from two guys who looked like they wanted to both win it and let the other guy win it at the same time. Full of action, great play and some amazing errors. It was hard to call a winner but the GB machine keeps rolling on! Second in the medals table! Worship Worship Worship
 dule-vu8/15/2016 11:07:29 AM GMT
now will be interesting when all groups in team sports are finished!for serbia will be interesting womens volleyball, womens basketball, mens water polo and basketball!I am just sorry that we didnt win america in mens basketball to show this "big" stars how it can be done!didnt expect so close result!will see what I will watch, beacuse dont want to lose all of my nervs!

Well done to Serbia..... I saw some of the water polo match where you were swimming away with a great lead..... Then decided it was really a very boring sport, so switched channels to watch international crown green bowling. It's great to see newer countries doing well in the olympics, as it really puts you on the map. Well done.
 dule-vu8/19/2016 11:37:59 AM GMT
well for you in united kingdom there is only maybe 3 sports, football, rugby, cricket,so I understand that you cant watch nothing more!so sports like basketball and water polo are not good, beacuse you dont know to play them, like every other country on world!its not your fault that you dont know how to play other sports!
