On Thursday, a player on the 2003 college football national champion LSU Tigers received a 50-year prison sentence for attempted murder at a Louisiana casino in 2011. Demetri Robinson, 32, pleaded guilty to three count of attempted second degree murder on Aug. 18, 2014, for shooting at three employees of the Cajun Circus Casino Sept. 18, 2011. Robinson shot a cashier and then fired shots at two other employees after being asked to leave the casino.

Detectives said that he had previously been banned from the casino for making an inappropriate sexual comment to an employee. When he went to the casino on the night of Sept. 18, 2011, he became aggressive and began shooting once the cashier reminded him that he was no longer welcome at the casino. He shot the female cashier in the head from a very close distance then fled the scene.

According to theadvocate.com, Robinson showed little regret in court and blamed everyone else but himself. The judge gave him a 50-year sentence, which is the maximum sentence for attempted second-degree murder

Fifty years old is the max. for this? I thought everything down the Bayou is more strict and less balanced - especially their justice system.
Of course he didn't get to kill anybody yet probably won't see the light of the Sun again as a free man in his life. A revenge for a drunken stupor which caused his initial ban really worth this much for him? What a stupid, stupid folk...

So he shot a woman cashier in the head and he was only charged with attempted second degree murder?Surely shooting someone in the head and then shooting at other people should not be second degree. At least the judge had the sense to give him the maximum.

Apparently they cannot tried him for murder since nobody died in this incident. Which is an incredibly lucky thing if you look around how these things happen to end in the US of A nowadays.
Still curious how come none of the security guys saw he had weapon tucked into his pants.
