On Thursday, a player on the 2003 college football national champion LSU Tigers received a 50-year prison sentence for attempted murder at a Louisiana casino in 2011. Demetri Robinson, 32, pleaded guilty to three count of attempted second degree murder on Aug. 18, 2014, for shooting at three employees of the Cajun Circus Casino Sept. 18, 2011. Robinson shot a cashier and then fired shots at two other employees after being asked to leave the casino.
Detectives said that he had previously been banned from the casino for making an inappropriate sexual comment to an employee. When he went to the casino on the night of Sept. 18, 2011, he became aggressive and began shooting once the cashier reminded him that he was no longer welcome at the casino. He shot the female cashier in the head from a very close distance then fled the scene.
According to theadvocate.com, Robinson showed little regret in court and blamed everyone else but himself. The judge gave him a 50-year sentence, which is the maximum sentence for attempted second-degree murder
