According to a Reno Police Department report, on September 30, Friday at 8pm, a casino robbery incident had left an employee dead after he was apparently struck by the suspect, who has now been apprehended.
The suspect was identified as Frederick Douglas Borden (picture), age 63, who was gambling at the Eldorado Hotel/Casino when he decided to commit robbery last Friday. While trying to leave the casino premises, Borden apparently hit a 52-year-old employee of the casino. It is unclear who Borden robbed and it is also unknown how he hit the employee.
The suspect escaped and his whereabouts were known the next day, Saturday at 1:45pm by detectives who responded, interviewed and then arrested him. The poor victim, after being hit, collapsed at the scene. He was transported to Renown, but unfortunately died on Saturday at 5:38pm.
The investigation is still ongoing.
Aside from one count of robbery, the suspect may possibly face more charges depending on the victim's autopsy results.
