Novomatic - the gaming manufacturer of popular online and landbased slots such as Book of Ra, Lucky Lady's Charm and Sizzling Hot - has just released its results for the first 6 months of 2016. The turnover in the first half of 2016 was €1.1 billion, an increase of 10.8% compared to the same period last year. Gaming machines accounted for the largest gains with an 11.8% increase; and the number of staff members (currently 22,373) increased by 12.1%.

However, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) declined by 4.7 percent against the previous year to EUR 616.7 million.

"We pursued our growth strategy during the first half of the year and have undertaken a number of important expansions," said Harald Neumann, chairman of the board at Novomatic. "With our acquisition of the British gaming operator Talarius, we have further increased our market share in the important UK gaming market, and we are now the largest operator of gaming arcades in the UK. Our intention to acquire a stake in the Australian listed gaming technology company Ainsworth would give a massive boost to our market position in Australasia, as well as in North and South America."

This is an amazing amount of money to be turned over. 1.1 billion in just six months is quite staggering and these slot games are really taking over at the present. I wish i had invented one of these games!!

I am collecting my strong, manly crocodile tears in a beer cup to show the owners and shareholders of Novomatic that how much I am concerned about their pre-tax revenue showed almost five percent decline compared to the previous year.
I am Cat Steven's Sad Lisa tonight.

A really big turnover for only 6 month. It seems, there are a lot of gamblers at the slot machines. Slots are boring in my opinion and this Kind of gaming includes only luck. I prefer poker and Sport betting Blink

Some more info here, to show us how much money there is in the gaming industry.
And in this kind of business i believe, it must be the easiest for tax evasion,
especially when it comes for online revenue.
Almost 11% increase in half a year, is impressive.

it never seize to amaze me how much money is being gambled away by the degens all around the world on a regular basis, either people are totally stupid or they are totally stupid. just one of the two. billions of dollaros change hands, with the usual direction- from the poor to the rich. stupidity cannot be cured.

Funny part about this is people will keep playing slot machines even if it's easy to do some research and understand that investing your money in just about anything else is a better investment... lol

Gambling has been part of human history for hundreds or even thousands of years though. I doubt it's gonna change anytime soon. We don't evolve fast enough Blink

That's a serious amount of money.
I did a little research and learned that Novomatic mainly designs and manufactures electronic betting machines, such as slot machines, video poker machines, video lottery terminals, multiplayer games, electronic table games, and other automated betting terminals, which are sold in over 80 countries.

There is a huge difference gambling some money away for fun, and gambling it away
trying to get rich, which brings addiction.
Cause when you get hooked, nothing works for you. A win will just delay, the same outcome.
Friends and family are very important here, saving some from the downfall.
