Hey everyone! So this is kind of a two part question. There are a couple of problems I have when I’m playing poker. First of all, I want to get better and I know that in order to do that I need to put in a lot of time. Thing is it’s hard for me to stay focused for more than an hour. Not only that, but then it’s hard for me to find proper motivation to keep playing after I get off. It’s not that I don’t have time to play, I really do want to get better. So these are the two questions I’m asking…
1. How can I stay focused and play better for more than just an hour?
2. What kind of motivational advice/help can you offer me? I really need it PLEASE!!!

theres no secrects to playing poker online or live but heres a try.
1.if you getting bored and you fold alotof hands ,watch videos on you tube of various sites,or watch movies or tv shows on your com at same time, tables pop up when ready, breaks the boredem alot.typing or writting at same time gets messy. 2.best advice you can get is read alot of poker books, forums on poker, and just playing everyday,if you can play live somewhere that be even better, try casino in your area if possible, also you can send me your address in france, ill fly over beat the crap out of you, kill your dog and sell your family off as slaves .so stay motivated or im on the plane. or an easier waay is go see a loan shark borrow heaps of money, then youll have to stay motivated to play well or you wear concrete shoes.

1. If you can't play for more than an hour, don't do it. Play as long as you can, make a short break, take a look over the key hands of your last session, take another break, and play on.

If you play in FTP I suggest you to join FTP poker academy, its the best for beginners as well as advanced players. Youll find loads of tasks there for every stake and stt/mtt level and when you finish a lessin there you will get rewarded with some points you can use buying FTP stuff +other bonuses. It is really interesting to finish up those lessons! - so theres your motivation - better play- more income, tasks to complete and rewards to chase

i would also say instead of watching tv watch what the other players are doing when u are not in the hand because u want to know what they will do to u when u are in a hand with them. u want to know how to defend and attack them. watch how they play, when they raise, how much they raise when they fold, how much pressure they need to be put under to fold. anytime it gos to a showdown i always check what the player has mucked even if im not in the hand as i want to know what they are will to call people down with. remember everyone at the table has ur u just need to get it off them

maybe poker is not really for you if you can not stay focus for 1 hour.........
the only motivational advice should be to play to win and not lose , if you do not have this whats the point in trying to be a better poker player

The Academy suggestion on Full Tilt is pretty good. Also maybe play on some different sites. It relieves the boredom of looking at the same table all the time, makes for variety. plus players play differently on different sites. Good luck!

Play on PKR. It's prety cool, i don't play there much but the graphics are better than all poker sites and you can customise your character and stuff. Also you can taunt other players and set your character mood. It's kinda silly but it might help you pay attention a little more.

Focus : is a hard one to tackle as you can loose focus for several reasons ie there are others in the same room as you that ask you questions or talk to you and generally take your mind off what you are doing, this interuptions distract youe attention if only for a few seconds this causes you to loose focus. I oftern find that if i an alone in the house or late at night when the houshold are asleep i can play for hours and hours and it just skip's past! Other wise you can loose focus when you are doing too much ie playing too many games at the same time, when i play 1-2 tables i can take in every thing and make good decisions following the action and making good calls...(easy poker) If i'm playing 4-9 tables i tend to make more bad calls or poor decissions these bad calls cause me to tilt (nothing crazy but a defo tilty feeling) then i make even worse calls and go rappidly down hill. Motivation : i have found that the most motivated i have been in the past has been when i'm clearing a bonus or trying to build a bankroll, at the start i always start out good wioth good bankroll management and i can get good results early on, days too weeks too months. I need to keep to the bankroll management for longer. (my issue is i deposit each month to play at a higher level so micro limits dont grab me and i get silly). if i could stick to my building longer i think it would just become habbit. So your moptivation could be to never deposit. never put your own cash on the line.

don't play as often as you do. if you don't think you could play "your game" (whatever that is) when you sit down then dont sit down at all. only play when you truly are excited to play and your winnings will reflect that.
