Let's face it: The lower stakes Hold'em tables at most online casinos these days are becoming bot wars, like it or not. It's a game of who's bot can beat who's bot at the micro through 1/2 limits.
The $600 sign-up bonus at Full Tilt and the $1,100 signup bonus at Ultimate Bet are nothing to sneeze at. With a break-even bot (one that doesn't lose), they are fully cashable while you sleep! Just be careful, because if you are using a losing bot you likely won't see any of that bonus and may end up losing money to boot. With a winning bot you should see all of those bonuses as profit, plus some winnings to boot (depending on the strategy you use for cashing them). This all boils down to a few crucial decisions, made over and over again.
I realy think online poker is getting raped and that they should ban this kind of software . Poker should be botfree
What do you all think of this new Shanky Technologies Holdem Bot/bonusbot ???
You ask if they should be banned. I think you will find that they are in fact banned. If you read the small print at least on the terms and conditions when signing up to a site.

As much as Ive seen and red there are only LIMIT bots. But then again limit games are the most basic way to earn player points without risking your br.

If a bot is acting on a common player's behalf, it's ok, he's just a mechanical player.. but if it's acting on behalf of the poker room, then things might be very suspicious... Just thinking, if you suspect a player is a bot and you talk to him in the chatbox, there's no way he can answer... so this can be an easy way to spot a bot.. perhaps... on the other hand, he may have just turned the chat off...

at pokerchamps where I use play there was a bot at the lowlimit tables or what we thought was a bot...1 thing I noticed is he always waited for the big blind every table even if he had to wait 9 hands at a 5/10 cent table of course he played very erratic he always of course used the automatic top up to get back up to the 5$ and never spoke a word in chat. I messaged support along with other people but buddy kept playing so I guess he was not a bot???

or perhaps pokerchamps didnt care about the issue as long as the player was generating rake and not cashing out.

they should be banned, ofc but websites wont do that.. someone needs to make a law against those bots.. I would start by adding a captcha before every 5 sng's played, and every 100 hands at a normal table..

meh, it doesnt really bother me. but fwiw I am pretty sure most sites do ban bots, its just hard to control/detect (especially considering privacy / anti-spyware)
anyway, as doomdy says, they are pretty standard and based on pot odds, so if you suspect a bot, make an over-size bet, destroy their pot-odds and take down the pot

wow, than im a bot too. i always wait for bb, auto-top up or reload and im not intrested in chatting. now i know what all those chicks meant, when they said theres something wrong with me... thx
Every site I've played at have banned the use of bot programs. Should it be proven that u are indeed using them, than a lifetime ban should be in order. I would also go as far as to say that datamining should also be a banned practice. Isildur1 got seriousely burned by such a situation by Brian Hastings and company @ cardrunners.
