I write for a living, and I actually have this problem, that if one letter is missing in a word, I can't see it, because my mind tells me it is there.
The other day I was writing the text for the cover of a book. And even though I afterwards read through it very very carefully, I had written "krig" (swedish for war) instead of "kring" (around).
I think that research has been made taking English as a pattern of study. I think their conclusions are near to be right. But not in general. I cannot imagine changing order of letters in Spanish, thus words are longer. Or even deutsch!
