my first "live" tourny  0
Hey i recently played my first ever live tourny... a sixty dollar "turbo" at foxwoods, we each started with 15,000.. 45 players enterd, and to my suprise only the top 3 get paid...pay out was.....1st 794.....2 472.....3....292....
I played well and brought my stack up to 44,000...when this hand happend....
I was in the small blind with ...10...10..... i raised to 7,000 (blinds were 1 and 2 thou)
everyone folded except for this old gentleman who had just been transferd to my table...he had a hugh stack....and he calls...

the flop was ...
7 c 4 h 8c.....good flop for me yet it was a action flop, so i lead out with 9 k....
the man immediatly called..... i decided on playing small ball that pot, i had him on a number of ranges because it was his first hand at my table...

The turn was a j of c.... i check he bets out 9 k.....
i decide to call instead of rasing.....the river was a 3 of d.....

I check and he pushes me all in...... the bet seemed weird, and i studyed him...finnaly i said call....and he said "great call" showing kq of clubs for busted draw....
everyone looked at me and said great call needless to say i scopped a hugh pot...

i played really well but by time the final table happend the blinds and antes were redicules....
I busted in fourth one shy of the money...

I think i chould have cashed but i misplayed 3 hands.....
when there were only for left ...me and short stack where seperated by about 8 k....when the blinds are 15 k 30 k with 5 k ante....thats nothing....
he pushed all in while i was in bb...both chip leaders called and i folded.... i had j 6 hearts.....
the flop k 66 9 3..... the short stack shows ace k...the 2 big stacks fold...if i would have called i would have elimanted him...getting myself into the cash...now im short stack...but i fold the next hand...and the same guy pushes....the bb wakes up with aq...and calls....
the shorter stack shows kq.... and im excited knowing i will cash...but of course the door card is a k lol...

well im really short and make 2 hugh mistakes.,.....i fold ace 8....when i should have pushed...and the next hand was q 10 of spades...i also should have pushed...but i didnt hopeing some one would get busted...no one did...all my chips were in the big blind...and i had 2-9.....

next time i go out on my sword....but i was really proud of my play...and fourth out of 45 aint bad Aww crap!

aaah unlucky man, try not to play a tubo would be my advice though, love live poker,do considerably better at it than online.
i usually only play low buy ins online as i try to use bank roll management and find it hard to build a good bankroll without needing the cash, anyway good luck in the future and mabye think of reading up on live play a bit,
i read a book once by a former FBI guy turned poker player which was great for reading bluffs in live play, cant think of it now but im sure google would find it

------------
joe navarro is author of the book, read em and reap.very good read

seems a very good run for the first live tournament. a strange thing in the states are this very few payouts places are normal. when I play live in europe, we have normally about first 10-15 % payouts . and normally we are making deals... to become with a good stack bubble hurts always, happend to me also few times. but all in all live it is even more easy as there are more tells and players without any clue

Well anyways this was about the 11th hand at my table i was in bb with 10 jack { my favorite hand } well a guy with J J raises 2x bb so i call. Flop comes jack 10 10 disaster. Needless to say i got busted finished in like 53rd out of 57 lol. So you did a hell of a lot better then me buddy ...looking forward to playing more live tournaments though

Nice run, I played my first live tournament last September. It was a 1200 euro France Poker Series event in Divonne Les-Bains with 399 entrants. Live poker can be so boring and hard. I want a hud and the exact stacks, plus it doesn't help if everyone but myself and one other gentlemen were speaking French.

Started with 25k chips and I limped Ad 4d at like 75/150 in the co after 3 or so limpers before me. Flop came as 8d x and it checked around turn was 6d and I bet 1/2 pot and got 1 caller in the Sb.

River was the Td completing the flush giving me the nuts and I bet like 1250 which was a little more then half pot. The Sb who only had about 7k in chips after turning 77 into a 3 barrel bluff pretty soon ago snap called with Kd Qd. Aww crap!

Nothing else really interesting happened for the next about 8 hours. I pulled a couple of big semi-bluffs and showed but I busted like 180th shoving over a ep 2.5x open with tt and like 15bbs on the button and running into aces. It was cool doing a tv interview and having cameras everywhere though.

Definitely looking forward to another. Will be playing the 1k nlhe and 1.5k 6 max wsop:e events that were just announced and hopefully an ept or two.

I enjoy ppls stories about their first event, keep em coming.
