What if you won?????  +1

What if you won a big tourney online, a prize of 100K+, would you post this
result on the bankrollmob forum?? Almost everyone is posting results, but would
you that in this case? Would it be wise?

Offcourse most people would want to tell and you'd have every right to brag but would
that be a sensible thing to do? You can google all these posts and word would
spread( also mouth to mouth) Maybe people living near you will target you criminally,
all your 'friends' off the past are suddenly ringing your doorbell, a lot of acquaintances will
start kissing your ass and i can think of more unpleasantness. And if your the kind that
want to(needs to) avoid taxes its a no-brainer.
Wouden't it be better just to tell familie and close friends?

Well Mobsters, what would you do??? Cool

Wow JazzyJeff, you bringing up the blogs this morn. Very interesting question indeed. I personally would post an amazing blog on this site. I mean holy crap, winning over $100 000 is something to be proud of for sure. But for me I have no worries about my friends finding out. Very few would ever hear about it, and none of them have a membership to this site.
This was a question that did take some time to think about. Many factors involved. Nice post Jazzy, gave you a Thumbs Up for it. Look forward to the comments that will follow. Good luck on and off the felts.......

As for the gl-part: same to you Cool

guess I wouldn´t mind if people would know about it. I would drive with the car in town screaming around I just won, but propably make some nice little summary here. I mean I guess that would be an intresting story for readers aswell if a mobster would just grew out of nowhere and takes a tourney down.
I am not too scared about this "old friend" thing. I knew the people around me all the time so I would still know who was my friend and who obv wasn´t.
What I fear more is maybe to annoy the real friends with becoming an arrogant a*****e or something.

I´d "probably" rant and rave about the final table I made and in which tournament.
But I wouldn´t mention any amounts.
I know it can be looked up and approximated, but that´s about it.
No proof.
Kind of careful what I put on the Net.

i dnt know if i'll post here on BRM or not but because of different reasons.
I have different nicknames on all sites so dnt think any1 except my 2-3 trusted friends know who i am, so getting targeted is not an issue but i dnt like braggin about my wins so i wud most likely keep it to myself

You know I have a story in which this is related. I have a famous cousin, that's right! Mick Mars, the lead guitar player for Motley Crue is my first cousin, my Mother's sister's son and I lived with him in California although he was born right here where I live in Huntington, Indiana. His real name is not Mick Mars of course, but he was condemned and put down by his brothers (one whom is a California State Trooper) and his Father ( whom is ordain Priest and now has passed). Anyway exactly what your refereing to happened. After Motley Crue became popular everyone wanted to be Mick's friend again and of course everyone kissing his azz. He has always been cool to my brother and I and actually fixed my elder Aunts house up. I've been privlaged enough to go back stage to several Motley concerts and have met some great musicians such as Ozzy Osbourne, David Coverdale of course Tommy Lee, Nikki and Vince. I must say he did spend money on his parents even though he was condemned until he made it. This is a very true story and if you ever hit it big expect the people who forgot you existed to remember you and any little thing they can relate to you will be remembered once your wealthy. Good Luck to All!

Below is a picture of my Mother and Mick Mars Mother (my Mother's sister). Note some of Motley Crue's Gold / Platinum Albums in the background.

If I won a big online tournament I would definitely post it on this forum, just brag a little. I would be very excited and share this great feeling with everyone on this forum.

If it were 100K or something I'd definitely share the results.. I'd have the good sense to change all my passwords etc. But generally speaking, my LAN is pretty secure and I wouldn't be too concerned..

Regarding friends/relatives/criminals I can't speak for all countries - but given the average house price where I live (around 500K I think) no body is going to be to fussed about 100K - its basically a deposit on a house, nothing more.

If it were a few million - I'd probably be a bit more discreet - I'd still share on BRM - but maybe I would wait until I had the cash in secure bank accounts (not poker accounts lol).

------------
@Green - thats pretty cool getting to meet all those different musos through your cousin !

Although - I think there's a big difference between rock star fame & fortune (and how people will treat you) and winning 100K in online poker.. lol.

I would definitely share it with my fellow Bankrollmob forum mobsters! I love hearing the stories of you guys binking a big tourney or a big cash hand, it shows me that it CAN be done and therefore motivates me to keep trying to play better and post my own success stories. Posting here with you guys has helped me become a better player over the past year, totally worth the time I spend chitchatting here. Hopefully in the next couple of years I will post a thread titled “Mahdrof’s going to the WSOP ME!” One can always dream…

i wouldnt tell anyone but my gf (alltough i dont know if its a good idea Big Smile ).
surely, its something i would like to scream out load and tell everyone...not to brag.. just because i would be happy about winning so much. but you also dont share your income with your friends for good reason. so nope i would keep it to myself.

Hi Jeff - good blog.

As a pretty amateur/ inexperienced player I would be jumping for joy. I would post it on this forum, probably while on hoilday in the Bahamas. None of my friends know my poker names and would not have membership to this site, so the chances of them finding out would be pretty remote, Also the missus does noit know about this site or have any idea about my poker site nicknames - so another reason not to worry about sharing my good luck with you all.

Anyway lets hoping I can hear from one of you soon with your good luck stories - like winning the Sunday Brawl on FTP.

Big Smile
