ken warren..who is he?  0
hi all
while browsing in the local library i came across this book "Ken Warren teaches poker"
just wondering has anyone ever heard of him,i was curious and took the book out, this is the excerpt from inside the cover

"ken warren has supported himself playing professional hold em since he left the air force in 1987.an excellent tournament player, warren has been asked by several las vegas poker rooms to skip their tournaments in order to give other players a chance to win as well.
warren is the best of the new breed of riverboat poker players, and in fact, has the unique distinction of having played in(and won)the very first legal poker hand dealt in mississippi in the twentieth century.that landmark hand was kings full of 7s in the big blind posistion.
warren is the author of three other books, including the best selling "winners guide to texas holdem poker.he makes his home in shawnee, kansas." Confused

The guy is pro dude, and he has the right cards to teach us.
The poker adventure is so old and amazing that is needed real teachers.
In the futere the games will be played for professors with phd on back. Confused

I wouldn't bother with this book - below is an excerpt from a review of a later book by the same author

"What should I say in summary about this book? I’m disappointed and I’m amazed. Disappointed because this book is only marginally better than the previous hold’em book by the same author. The older book is better structured but contains more flaws. Amazed because there are a lot of good hold’em books on the market but there are still new hold’em books being published that give you advice that’s clearly wrong. For low-limit players the Lee Jones book remains the first choice."

As to who he is I found this description "Warren, a retired history professor and the Missouri State Director of the Poker Players Alliance, from 1996 to 2008."

You should try google from time to time - it's amazing Big Smile

If someone buys a book for reading the introduction note, this sure is a great candidate to be in many poker aficionates homes. I never heard of him, but, even if he isnt that great or known, this note sure calls the atention of amateurs interested in upgrading their skills. But, in conclusion, i have to say: i still havent found the book that lights a lamp in my head about the game. And by the way, is there a possibility to Admin to create a new section inside forums (or arrange the structure of the site) in a way that turns more easy to find certain forums? I have this question because i remembered a certain forum created with the objectif of reunite texts to make a book. When one dont see it quick on the initial page, having so many new forums to comment, certain subjects can unfortunately be forgoten and some things that could turn into very good and be used with profitan end up unfinished work.

there are many poker books by small winners but most of them are useless in today's game.
if you are gonna buy any book better stick to the famous ones.

I never heard of that guy, which is interesting because I follow the poker scene for quite a while. Guess he wasnt exposed as much as the other more 'famous' guys. But he looks interesting, I might read some of his wise words ;D
