It seems really funny to me that I can go to a final table in a free roll which can take as long as 5 hours and yet in real money tourneys I get in the money only to get knocked out shy of the top 50, maybe because there is no pressure on the free rolls is why I can final table. Do you think that if I apply the same strategy I will final table more in real money tournaments????

simple - level of play is better in real money games, most people are playing freerolls just to get lucky.
and obv if u are playing scared you are less likely to make final tables

Its not playing scared its getting bad beats lol but that's just my say on it. I was once told when I bubbled a $22 buy in $25000 if I had fun.... And I said fun fun FUN how can it be fun being bad beat AA v 22 LOL but I saw the point in the end.

Freerolls you gotta be lucky to win these, because many players go All-in with the weakest starting hands. Good luck in the new year and on the felt.

SUperNoob is actually right here, true poker is on real money, not on freerolls or play money.

Now you could also have a fear to lose money and you play too tight on real money tournaments...

Yeah maybe I do play to tight when I should be a bit more aggressive will be an interesting year 2012.
Good luck to everyone and lets make it a prosperous New Year!!! HURRAH!!! Spade

I like to play freerolls. Just to see if I can wade through the sea of s**t. And they usually pay well; for entering with nothing.

Pokerstars has astro freerollls every hour. if ya can wade through that s**t; you get a shot at 2000.

I usually take down a few bucks off those.

somethin for nothin but time.

fun fun Thumbs Up

It can happen less times than it happens in freerolls, but I truly believe that, if you play a paid MTT so relaxed as you play those freerolls, soon you will be getting final tables tables. I think your problem is to play MTT just to get to the prizes. This means you tend to quit from the game too soon, you sit back and watch your chips going away as the prizes get closer, just to guarantee you get there, and once you do, you don’t have enough chips to try to rise again in the game and you end up going all in with any high card and jump out of the boat. If you play them relaxed, for the first place, you will get there! Don’t think about the money, don’t open the lobby to see your place, play to win, wait for the end.

Hi guys!!

Freerolls are for fun especially in the big sites with thousands of players. Players pushing anytwo, calling anytwo, limping anytwo makes reach final tables a question of luck and no more than luck.

And the best way to play it? The same as you will play a 216$ MTT.

We will play like Fakiry advise if we play at our level. Skill or bankroll , that's why bankroll management

maybe because people act totally different in freerolls...like they will call you even when they know they are beaten...they will go all in with A4 off, 23 suites or anything else that they want, just because it's a freeroll and people do not see any point in sitting and waiting for good cards, just to be kicked out by a bad beat and get nothing for their attempts...

You cant compare freerolls with buy in tournies. At least not all of them.
Cause there are some freeroll tournies that worth playing as much as a buy in, and some
even more regarding on the prize.
Low prizes freerolls with many entries is more like a lotto.
Many people go all in with any crap they get trying to build a stack worth playing to reach final table.
Others they simply dont care Smile

Freerolls are super hard to win and dont let anyone who hasnt won one say differently. Opinions are like noses and everyone has one but without a qualified assesment how can one say?

Have you ever had AA cracked by 46 simply because someones mom was calling them for dinner? That s**t dont happen in high level real money nearly as often.. sadly it does still happen though.

When i first made a post here i got huge flack for wanting to work on my game in play money and freerolls. Everyone said i was stupid but i wonder how many of them have sat with 60k play money chips at a high level play money game? its near impossible to win up there. The players who care more about winning then winnings are always harder. Simply put you find more serious players in high level play money. They are there purely for experience and its almost frowned upon when you bad beat someone. Not like wow you got lucky. More like wow, please dont play here anymore. We are here to play poker not bingo.

Nothing has helped my mtt game more then learning how to dodge s**t heads in freerolls. nothing. so let others say their opinions but unless they won a 1000 seat mtt freeroll their opinions are simply invalid and lacking enough info to comment.

Also id like to invite anyone here to try and win a 5$ freeroll 24p sng. I will even bet 5$ they wont in their first try. There are some real grinders in those games and luck wont cut it. You can be with 60% of all the chips in play when you sit down 6 handed at ft but if you cant play plo u gone in 6th.

I am more in line with agreeing that because you simply dont care about losing a buy in you can play much better then typically. Which only further proves my theory.

Personally i know without playing purely for playings sake, ie freerolls. i never would learn half the stuff i feel i know now. Ignorance is bliss though but ill ride it till the wheels fall off.
