Hi people, i can't resist making another poll
This one will be more subjective, but still interesting to approach poker.
So here is the thing : how important is it to be confident while playing poker. I thinked about that point because i realised that while i was playing poker, i always convinced myself i'm the best at the table (even if it's not the case). It helped me take good decision and keep cool against fishy moves/badbeats. Don't think i'm kind of pretentious player. On the other side, I know i have also played poker a nervous, unconfident mind and while playing this way, i know i make many mistakes (it happens when you have a really dark serie with lot of badbeat, then you become a lil bit paranoid and effraid of every hand).
So for me, self confidence is very important... otherwise i dont feel sure about every decision and my game becomes chaotic. Also, you just should'nt feel to much confident, because it might leads you to big mistakes like "Huh, you raise me ? but i read u like a book.... CALL with 9 high.... °_°' Holy S**t he have top pair ! Tchunpo finished at the 10th place".
Please, share what you think about confidence and its influence on your game

Being confident is definitely an important part of any true poker player's game no doubt. How smart an individual is also plays an important part in one's game, but being able to recognize your opponents confidence / poker playing skills is even more important. This is my own opinion and enjoy this thread. Good Luck to All!

Well self confidence is kinda a must otherwise why whould u even try if u dont think u can do it? but also on other hand its not so important, its more important to play with good bankroll managment and to actually improve your play...
Another two sides of the coin question. If your not confident, your tendencies are to become too loose and passive , you'll make weak bets, rarely raise, and are easily bluffed. If your overconfident, you'll tend to become hyper aggressive, donk bet, bluff too often and generally be easily tricked into trap plays.

I think you gotta have some confidence in your ability, but humble at the same time. You have to be able to admit to yourself when you're being outplayed, and either adjust or leave the table, or you'll just be a human atm.
Gotta have confidence, because you gotta get the chips in the middle when you're good. No confidence = play too tight = you'll never be a winner.

I definitively play better when feeling confident. When im on my A game its much easier to make decisions. but its important to get the right hands at the right time also. Just dont raise every hand ur given, thats not being confident its being stupid

absolutely confidence is the major thing in poker- practically you can go to any nosebleed table without even knowing the rules of the game being played and if you have confidence you will walk out the winner i mean if you have enough confidence you become immortal at the tables- you just go on cracking AA with 26 off and this pattern continues till you take money from everyone- thumbs up for confidence

In Portugal, there is a milk publicity with this key question: “If you don’t like yourself, who will?” In poker is the same. We all come to this forum writing very nice things about our favorite poker players, but we don’t mind a lot if they win or lose, we worry about if WE win or lose, and if someone likes to loose, than this guy should go play Russian roulette with a gun to see if he gets the bullet (he will never get it, he always loses). Self-confidence is one of the most important concepts in poker. Betting and thinking “will I lose?” is 80% of a lost hand! If you know you will probably lose before you sit to play, than don’t sit. I have a friend who plays poker during weekdays and makes enough to pay the house rent. The problem is that he also likes to play during weekends, when he gets home after being drinking with friends, which makes him lose half the amount he makes during weekdays. I told him: “The day you realize you can double your poker profits by not playing during weekends you will become a new man”.
Yes confidence is important, but knowledge is even more. I mean to be confident, you have to know what you're doing first or you're just being arrogant
If you have the poker knowledge and experience + the confidence, then you're on the right path!

Confidence is very important and of course I am not talking about poker only. You cant make it no where without self confidence. Most of the times its a guide to failure.
