Sam Trickett received the Player of the Year award at European Poker Awards in Paris, France the other day. Trickett started 2011 by winning and coming second in two Aussie Millions high roller events. Then it didn't take long before he to won the prestigious Partocuhe Poker Tour main event. wow never knew such awards existed- it sounds like Oscars and the winner is... probably a nice idea- such events imho are great for press, publicity, and for the fans as well- they get an opportunity to say their opinion about the outcome and the event itself- i like the idea

I think Ilari truly deserved that title, he was around 600k down on pokerstars at the beginning of last year and he ended the year with a huge profit. Still, Isi should also get a title

The possibility of having Trickett winning this prize was something that many were already previewing some months ago. What surprised me was to see Ilari Sahamies winning the Internet Player of the Year award. This award only takes in consideration the amount of winnings, not the number of games, or the hand ratio, which would definitely be the best measurement instrument to use in order to see who was really the best. When a new billionaire donk comes around this guys and manages to rob them a small fortune, passing them in the winning rank, I still want to see if European Poker Awards will maintain the way they calculate who’s the winner.
