Off to the quarter finals!  +1
If you've been keeping up on my latest threads then you know I have been playing live a lot. I'm starting this thread so that I may update you Mobsters on my progress in my quest for a main event seat. I have been playing 45$ W.S.O.P. tournaments @ my local Casino. If you make a final table you qualify for the semi final tournament, of which they are holding 4 in the month of June. The top 20 out of each of those 4 tournaments will then battle it out for a main event seat and 1000$ spending cash for your trip to Vegas. Here's another great thing about these tournaments, if you make multiple final tables you can add chips to your 5000 chip starting stack up to the max of 10K. If you max out in one of the 4 semi finals, you can then begin qualifying for another. You can qualify for up to 3 of the semifinal tournaments with max chips.
With all that being said I've played maybe 8 of them, and made 2 final tables. I'll be playing a quarter final on June 5th, so far I have 6K in starting chips. Now the structure of these tournaments isn't great. You only start with 5k, the blinds start @ 100-100, & increase in 15 minute increments. They go from 1-1 to 1-2,2-4,4-8 color up 500-100, 1000-2000, ect. They increase fast, not to mention live dealers don't get nearly as many hands out as online & live player's aren't held to a timebank either. My results haven't been as good as I would like, but due to the ever increasing blinds & slow rate of play, I often find myself in coin flip situations earlier than I would prefer. Although i do try to avoid coin flips as much as possible in tournaments especially for stacks, you do need to get all in and win multiple times to win a tournament & that includes winning coin flips. I haven't been doing great at that, but those are just the swings of the game. I've been on the other end of those swings and it is quite nice.
Anyhow Mobsters I will be going to play another one of these tournaments tonight so stayed tuned to this thread for my results & analyzation of hands. Until then Mobsters, good luck on the felt real or virtual. Cool

That's pretty wild that you've done so well at the live tournaments since our on-line days were slowed. So your headed to Vegas or am I misunderstanding the post. If so, good luck on your journey, but it appears no matter what your qualified for the next step correct?

Best of luck to you and keep us posted Smile

Ha I wish I were on the way to Vegas already. No, I have qualified for the next step yes. The next tournament that I play(the one I have already qualified for) I need to finish in the top 20 to make it to the final tournament in which 80 players(top 20 from each semi final) will battle it out, where one eventual winner will take the main event seat, unless the final table just takes the money & chops it up, but I'd rather have the seat so if I make that final table there will be no chop. Playing another qualifier tonight to try and add to my 6k starting stack & if I max out this stack @ 10K, I can start qualifying for another one of the semi finals in June. I can qualify for up to 3 out of the 4. I'll let oyu guys know how I do tonight when i get back. tourney starts in a couple of hours.

Those are very good news for you, hoodi420! We are starting to have big winners amongst the mobsters who aren’t afraid of sharing this good news with the others. Sometimes I feel there is some kind of fear in telling everyone things like this, because its like if things people would try to look out for you and mess with your nice work at the tables. I think no mobster should feel bad for winning and sharing it also provokes the whiling to get there on other mobsters!

Wish I could say I added some more starting chips to my stack but alas it was not to be. I really have been running bad when it comes to coin flips in Jan. So here's how my tournament went. Don't worry its unfortunately a short story. So first hand of the tournament, I look down AsQs utg+1 I open c-bet the flop, & take down a small pot. Fold, utg. Pick up 7d6d. I called a 200 chip raise that had been called by 4 other players. We took the flop 5-way. The flop came 10d3h6h. I lead out & get called not by the original raiser, but by a player in the cut off. He flats my bet of 600 into a pot 1500. the turn is a 9c, giving me an extra out to the gut shot, though it may not be good. I bet 1200 on the turn, the players chips beat mine into the pot. The 9h paired the board & hit the flush draw, I checked other player bets 1500, I fold. After that hand I was left 3400 of the initial 5k starting stack. After folding a few hands I pick up AdKd in middle position, a fairly loose player opens for 300, now instead of inviting action & flatting, I decided to over raise to make it look like a steal. Two seats behind me a player I hadn't see play too many hands snap calls, uh-oh. I was surprisingly not in that bad of shape preflop as he turned over 10c10h, but the 10s on the flop all but sealed my fate, and the 6s on the turn bricking any backdoor flush draw possibilities did seal it. Live to fight another day. Hopefully I will be on the other side of the coin flips in Feb. Until next time Mobsters. Cool

Good stuff Hoodi! Good luck on going all the way with this one. Up until a couple of years ago I was able to mix in a fair amount of live play, but it has been difficult lately to get the time. I am hoping that the arrival of spring will make it a little easier to get back into the action (winter driving around here has been difficult the past few weeks). Please keep us updated on your progress and big time GL! Thumbs Up

Idk if I'll make it to the main event as my roll is not up to the challenge, unless I luck out & win a seat. But I may try to make it to Vegas to play in some of the smaller events & side games, just depends on what my roll is looking like around that time. Thanks for all the good luck vibes, been losing a lot of coin flips,. Hoping my luck will turn around in Feb. Cool

You never know.
Some people have a very lucky break. Maybe this is yours, you win the seat to Vegas and then major money at the WSOP.
I wish you a final table at WSOP (then you are on your own lol )

I really need to change the name of this thread... I'm actually playing a semi final event on June 5th, then the top 20 finishers from the for semi final events will battle it out for a main event seat. I made another final table this week, adding to my starting stack for the semi final making it 7000 now. You can qualify up to 6 times making your starting stack 10,000, I've qualified 3 times(5000 for ur first qualification, 1000 for the next 5). You can actually continue to qualify for one of the other semi final days as well, but I think once I max out chips for one , I will be done. There were some key hands that contributed to my cashing. I only played a hand full so I'll see if I can remember them all.
Lets see the very first hand I played I made it 1000 with AJ, into a limped pot with the blinds of 100-100 & a player on the button moved in on me for 2400 more, I was getting about 2-1 from the pot and was pretty sure he had a small pair @ best. I made the call & to my surprise he showed KJ. Domination. The 2nd hand I played a loose, aggressive player min raises the blinds(blinds are 100-200, he makes it 400) I 3-bet it to 1400 pre flop to isolate, villain calls. Flop comes 6h8c10c he checks, I shove, villain folds(someone told me later he folded nines) The next hand a young player makes it 600 to go and gets called twice, I look down @ Ac10c in the cut off, I call. Flop comes j610 rainbow, everyone checks, I shove, everyone folds to initail raiser, he tanks, then calls off all of his money with 99, my tens hold up. By this time I was completely controlling the table. I get involved in a small pot with an older lady, whom is the classic example of a "calling station", I find myself out of position with an jacks and an Ace high board with all clubs. I fire & the calling station folds, I show her my jacks to show I wasn't bluffing only to find out she folded two queens!
There were a few other hands the villain I bluffed with my sevens stacked off to me when I had aces & also I raised w AQ only for the sb to call & flop trips, only I turn a jack for broadway to take him out! Out of the 295000 chips in play I had about 62,000 going to the final table. My luck ran out shortly after as I ended up losing two races to go out in 9th for a profit of only 10$! Sheesh all that work.... Oh well I'll take them any way I can get them1 Until next time Mobsters. Gl on the felt.
Cool

Made another final table tonight. Profited 180$ on the 45$ buy in. Also added another 100 starting chips to my stack for the semi final's. I will be playing my semi final match on june 5th. I will currently be starting with 8000 starting chips. I have until the end of may to make two more final tables & max out my starting stack at 10,000.
