I just browsed the site, and saw an advert for a PayDay loan, I have heard nothing but bad things about these loans all over the TV and papers lately, they target those who are most vulnerable financially, and seek to trap them into a never ending cycle of debt, borrowing, debt , borrowing and on and on!
The idea came over here from the US I believe, and I watched a TV programme about it where some poor US families were actually losing what little persessions they had left to these LOAN SHARKS!
After a quick look at the advert, the interest charged is only a small amount... about 1800%!
Surely it cant be right for BRM, a site aimed primarily at GAMBLERS to advertise for these LOAN SHARKS, the reason being...
On a gambling site, why would you want an easy to get, high interest loan? I will take a wild guess... To gamble it!
Now, I would like to ask.. does BRM support responsible gambling? The advert I just saw, tells me you dont give a monkies!
If BRM is not bothered in the slightest about advertising for these blood sucking companies, then my opinion of this site just dropped about 99%!
Thats my rant over... now you may call me an idiot, Cheers!

Agreed that this probably isn't the place to advertise this type of loan. However, these loans are supposed to be short term i.e. for a couple of weeks. 1800% a.p.r. on a £100 loan is actually about £15 interest over a two week period.

Spot on zeroster! Your right.
The problem is, that it is often people in financial difficulty that need these loans, and thus a high percentage of them would end up in a never ending cycle of borrowing more money to pay off other debts.
Im sure there are instances where these loans are fit for purpose, and they are used sensibly and are helpful, but from what I have heard they are more often than not, nothing but bad news!
I think Trading Standards are actually trying to gain new powers to police them more, so bad has the problem become for people in the UK, not sure about the rest of the World.
Just seems irresponsible to advertise it on a site aimed at gamblers.

I agree and was even more disgusted when I saw an ad on TV by Montel Wiliams doing one. I thought he was a more righteous person than that but I guess everyone has a price.

Welcome back CJ, long time no see. Spectacular re-entry I might add. I definitely agree with you that payday loans (and similar guys) are near criminal. I first encountered them when a friend took a loan out to make rent, when I read over the contract I coundn't beleive it.

I applaud your sense of compassion for others Cjv. Sincerely. You saw something u didnt like and spoke from the heart. Very commendable.
i edited out my own personal opinion on the matter. Not because im worried my opinion isnt popular but because its such a far reaching topic my opinion is irrelevant because i cant speak to all the issues involved.

well i do not see anything wrong here...to be fair to brm they can advertise whatever they want (or whoever pays the biggest cash) as long as it's legal and not malicious. to get back to those loans- the bottom line is that people are responsible for their stupid decisions and not the lenders, yes ethically they are not on the top scale, but hey as the saying goes "nothing personal it's just business"

Unfortunatelly no matter if I agree or not this is simple true. BRM depends on sponsors, advertisers and hence since is not malicious they can do it. We all are grown people or so I think, and if some1 get a loan for gambling without looking after his/her responcibilities then is not BRM problem. If anuthing else they should set a budget and stick with it. If they done have money for other things I dont undestand what are they doing in this casino sites. And saying casinos because with poker sites they have more chances to win something. I only hope they will not be many people get these loans as no matter what no1 deserve more sh...t than what all have...

I haven't seen these particular ads. However - I definitely don't condone them.. But I don't even really like the idea of promoting gambling / online gambling.
Personally - I had a serious gambling problem for years - it was debilitating in the effect it had on my life. I eventually moved past it, with the help of poker actually - because it fills the need, without being a problem.
So personally - I don't really like sites that advertise online casinos and I wouldn't condone pay-day loan ads either.
However, in saying this - I don't think it is so bad for BRM to do it, since it is unashamedly a gambling website.. it's kind of like going to a site to see half-naked woman in bikinis and complaining that they advertise site banners for hardcore pornography.

Well really, as a society we do it to ourselves. Taking out car loans for 40k cars when a nice 15k car would suffice. Taking out credit cards. Overdrafts. Lines of credit. Home equity loans. The "system" is designed to suck us in, and never let us out. If we could all learn to budget better, and save for things we need, we'd all be a lot better off. Instead we take out loans to pay off other loans, credit cards to survive between pay cheques because our whole paycheque goes to debts. It's insane that we even allow this to happen.

Hiya Majik! Hope your well, yeah have not posted in a while as I have been a bit busy lately.
I am not one to post something like this, and then support what I do not agree with, for me it is just wrong on so many levels to advertise these companies that are only interested in bringing misery to the poorest, and desperate families.
That said, I am going to have to back up my feelings on this matter. I am going to email support now and close my account, otherwise everytime I click a banner, ad, signup for a no depo bonus etc. etc. I will be supporting something I do not agree with.
It is a shame, as this is a great community, but needs must.
Best of luck to everyone on the BRM forums, good luck in your poker and in your life too, its been fun!

I did think it, for me its what sets it apart from other poker sites, they stick to poker, more hit and miss here, possibly why they are not as big as they should be, MobManager should be sacked and bring in someone who understands poker, poker players needs, wants, poker products, the real poker market and frig me this would be one hell of a site, but no, cheap $ is the easy way. I never understood, why an affiliated poker site only deals with NDB, so much more to be offered, perhaps I will do it my self, admin AKA Tony can have a job and Dozn01 can stay as T-Boy.

Everyone has the right to have an opinion about every products and companies, and they don’t have to be always good. But you should understand the side of this site where we are communicating. Their intention is to advertise the products of other companies and win with the clicks and subscriptions of services of those companies. But that doesn’t mean they agree with their policies. They are just one other way to help the site to make money.

I'm thankful (now - not earlier in life) that I completely fucked my credit "rating" by the time I was 17. I moved out of home around 15 and by 17 I'd lived in enough dodgy share houses with s**t under my name, that I wasn't even allowed a mobile phone that wasn't prepaid, let alone a credit card.
So, for all my years addicted to gambling (among other things ) - I'd never been able to get a credit card, bank loan, over-draft, etc - not for lack of trying !
------------ But very thankful for it.. Because, I ran up a lot of personal debts, here and there. Lost friendships and strained family relations.. But at the end of it all - I never owed any serious sums of money.

i dont like the idea of loans unless you are starting a business/for education. if you cant afford something, then wait till you save up that much money. never had a credit card and dont think i ever will, kinda change the whole dynamics of money.
