Everywhere this winter it seems like the weather is unusual. In Europe cold and snow and here in Canada (where I live anyways) unusually mild and dry. Curious to hear your stories from where you live. My Italian coworkers have been checking in with relatives regularly, and my mother has been checking in with her brothers and sister in Spain to make sure they are okay.
Here, instead of deep snow and cold, mild and dry. The ice on our lake has broken up and two days ago was open water - never before seen. When I was a kid the local car club would clear an oval on the ice every year and they would race jalopies in several different classes, but with the warming winters and thinner ice they had to stop about 15 years ago. On our small farm we have always had a couple pair of snowshoes because typically at this time of year if you wanted to go anywhere, with 1 metre of snow or more all over, it was the only way. 35% savings on my last heating bill, no minus 30 degree weather, the list goes on. Here on Balkans is coldest winter in last at least 50 years. Snow doesnt stop and it is 2m deep at some places. Recently there was -35C in one town in Serbia. Lot of dead from cold. Troble will be when snow start to melt down. I will be in world of trouble since my house is next to river...

Sorry to hear that jovica. Last year a region of Quebec not far from me was hit with about 4 weeks of flooding in the spring. Best of luck and do what you have to do to get through it.

Funny you should mention the mild temperatures in Canada. I used to live there and in the -20C temperatures.
Belgium is hevaing that kind of winter now. Unbelievable. Snow, -15/20C, crazy Canadian stuff. Tenerife is having it´s coldest winter since at least 15 years according to the people who have lived there that long. The world is going to hell, both finacially and in terms of climate.
Another Flu epidemic just hit Belgium as well, and I´ve never heard of so many people diagnosed with cancer in the last 3 months, ever. Family, friends, friends of friends.
Guess the "2012" predictions were not completely off.

December and most of Januar was quite mild, but now we had 3 cold weeks. But no snowfall to speak of. The comming week the temperature should move above zero.

this weather is causing trouble for people, but dont forget that this weather was changed by the people also...they cut forrests and dont plant almost nothing, so are to many lands like in desert, nothing there only some villages, so the storm and snowing does not having where to stop only at people houses...in any other examples are for this ...so dont cry about wether changes cause is our foult...

Hi. Our weather in UK is similar to Germany. We are experiencing minus temperatures, this is unusual for us. Like going back to the 70's. We had a bad period of snow in the south of UK last week, but as always now, we don't really know whats around the corner. Not much snow......just enough to keep the kids happy.
Our weather forecasters haven't got a clue. They are always over predicting everything so they cannot be wrong! The latest at the mo is zero temperatures until midweek then getting warmer up to 10C by Friday...........we'll see !!

Yes that is peoples foult and that is beginning of things which will be changed,what we see now is aftermath of things we do to our planet before 10-15 years,if we stop rape our Earth next 15 years will be worst and worst,but maybe is really dealeted last hand for human race and we don't have space to bluff,maybe tourney will be over for us and we will fall out on bubble

Weather has changed a lot the last few years, and we probably are in the beginning of a new era (weatherwise). Besides the extreme of it, it also seems that weather has shifted globally.
Few years ago we had mosquitoes only the summer months (4-5 months tops) Now the freaking insects just dont die. We have mosquitoes all year around. The temperature is at 0 outside and we are chasing the freaking insects .
Another example to how the weather has changed and affects everything is a medlar tree we have in our back yard. It blossoms like 3 times per year now. 3 times!!!
While in the no mosquito era it was blossoming normally, once per spring.
We are responsible as a race to the extreme changes of weather and if we dont stop abusing the environment it will just keep going worst

Read through your thread to see how the weather is around the world. It's great to be a part of BRM and have access to so many worldly thoughts / opinions.
Anyway, I'm south of Canada here in Indiana where it is at least cold and snowy. This year yesterday and today have been the coldest days we've had, 8F and 12F overnight with mid 20'sF during the day. Very little snow this year which is appreciative to someone who drives about 56 kilometers one way to work each day.
Don't know how many Mobsters know or have heard the term "Groundhogs Day", buit there's a saying that if the groundhog see's it's shadow we'll have 6 more weeks of winter. I guess he/she seen it according to the hog watchers.
I would have to agree; the weather is changing. I live on Vancouver island, BC, in a valley of mountains on the ocean inlet. This winter has been milder than usual. A lot milder than the rest of Canada which is why I moved here. But I think it started last summer. The summers here are awesome. Although last summer was unusually cold. With a lot of rain. Usually very little rain.
We only had 2 days of snow this year and the usual monsoons of rain. It will rain here in the winter for weeks with about 2 weeks of snow on the norm. Followed by storms. As of yet we haven't had a storm and we should be in the thick of it by now.
Well, at least the weather is better than my poker game as of late.

yep the weather has changed for a lot of places all around the world and its going to get worse due to a magnetic shift in the earths axis due to the massive solar flares been ejected from the sun,these solar flares or CME's (coronal mass ejections)as there known are at there most volatile since thousands of years so plenty of earthquakes,mudslides,freakish weather for the time being,so take care mobsters and stay safe

I was thinking the same thing the op was saying about it being mild in Canada. As someone who is off in winter i usually help the inlaws with snow removal but they had to go out only 3 times compared to 100 times last year.
Then the cold hit and we have been rock solid freezing for a few days now and snow has returned...
The sun came up a few days early last january in greenland sparking a mojor frenzy there among the natives. The sun has come up january something for as long as they been keeping track. Then in one year it changes a whole couple days? they went bonkers.
People say its because of the steadily increasing major earthquakes that move the axis slightly... who knows.
I am a subscriber to a Dr Keith Strong on youtube.com who knows all there is to know about the sun and he posts "the sun today" videos daily. He also knows alot about global warming and he has alot to say on the matter. For those with an extra 4 mins go and watch even todays video for amazing visuals on the sun.

The sun works in 12 year cycles. Going from solar minimum to solar maximum. These cycles also work in a larger cycle that increases every 72 years i believe. The Dr i mentioned above started documenting the sun as a response to the paranoia surrounding the Japan Tsunami. Since ive learned many things from him. He answers all questions even with many people asking daily and about all things. Comet Elenin likely gave him fits since daily he answered the same questions from new people visiting his channel.
We are currently in a major solar maximum or the beginning of one and even started witnessing M flares. We have just narrowly missed two of such flares CME's and even the news reported on it since they have no clue as to the effect on our techno society. Im sure we all heard about the telegraph wires frying in the 1800's though.
If you ever see the magnetosphere and the way the suns atmosphere protects us from seemingly manical waves of radiation you would be humbled like i was.
Pretty much im an idiot but watch this guys channel if only once. If you never saw what the sun looked like OMG.
