Got a hobby? Unusual interest?  0
I'm guessing the we all have hobby or interest of some sort, and wondering what some of you mobsters get up to in your spare time, would be great if you would also share your interest perhaps inspire others to try something new.
Please no football, poker or other very common interests, but if a fanatic, then OK but please why or what makes your interest a little different to other peoples.
Perhaps you go to speech classes, into astronomy, RC racing, collect coins or a yoyo expert, post your hobby....

I guess mine is a little boring, I am a fan of art, I often draw pictures, paint and of recent photoshop and wish to expand to sculptures, thinking of getting a lump of wax and seeing what I can create.

My last two attempts of art, Rhianna as a vampire submitted to worth1000 and a drawing on my wall in the pool room, sorry about the quality my phone camera seams to be crap, its about 4ft high.

Very nice drawings indeed Biggie, you seem to have the artistic touch and the skill needed for these things! Thumbs Up
My one and only hobby since I was 10 is to write songs, mostly music, but I've managed to get some pretty decent lyrics for some of them. Can't always come up with a good lyric, but when it happens it can be more stimulating than sex... Blink

Yes a very nice piece of art work B1g! I'm actually a big Rhianna fan and not just because she a very attractive person.

Myself I work out with NunChuks and have since I was 13. I've also coached T-ball for the little guys.

My wife and I have traveled to all states except Hawaii and I've traveled Europe 4 times. We take a lot of scenic photographs. Our collection is in excess of 3500 and I'm also the family tree geek so I have photographs of my family's early generations which are on the old tin with copper.

Last I've always enjoyed snakes. I've add various types including over 30 rattlesnakes when I lived in Arizona. That's where my avatar is derived from. Greenmohave is a type of rattlesnake that lives in the Mohave desert and they're actually a limish green. I've been bit twice and still alive so there's my story.

By the way ILI_002 music is a very big part of my life. My cousin is the lead guitarist in a band called Motley Crue. Lived with him for years in California which is where I was born. This is my mother's sister's son. Been backstage many times and have had the pleasure of meeting musicians like Ozzy, David Coverdale of Whitesnake, Faster Pussycat, Loudness and others. Sorry to carry on!

Hope to read more replies to learn about the Mobsters. This is a good thread.

I love to read about theoretical physics and maths. I really should have studied them when I was younger but only got interested later in life.

I'm an archaeologist and spend my summers on excavations up to my knees in mud. On one dig I somehow ended up becoming a shieldmaiden to King Arthur Uther Pendragon which involved imbibing a heroic amount of scrumpie cider. I now apparently have the right to carry a sword and shield on British Airways flights.

You are also my other (better??) half and live in spell checker, which should be hobby enough for you.

Interesting about the shield maiden thing. I didn't know that.

@ zeroster
Never to old to get more into it.
You can still go and study if you have the free time.
I know people a lot older that did that cause for one way or another couldnt do it when its normal to
(after school)
No need to follow that path either. (work in the field you will study)
At that age its more a personal goal and achievement
Go for it Thumbs Up

Hey nice artwork dude.
Being a fan of art is everything but boring...
I also like to hand draw and work with Photoshop as well.

From all the hobbies, being an artist isn't something you can pay for or achieve.
This is usually something that people are natural born with.

Man! Could we be like 25 again and exchange lives?? Big Smile

Ok, I can't complain but I had come so close to become a professional songwriter when I was 25-26, dealing with publishers, royalties, working into studios... These were the old days, without internet promotion, mp3 downloading, and MySpace. Couldn't find the correct manager/publisher/band to promote my songs, so after some years of effort I returned to my studies and my software developer career, and kept songwriting only as a hobby (and as a way to fascinate my fiancee every now and then Smile )

I guess it would be nice to know your cousin, a little push from the right people for a good head start would save tons of meetings and lots of effort, but hey... that's life! Blink
Maybe one day I'll send you a tape to hear your cousin's sayings about my songs... Rock on! Smile

I collect nail clippings. Once the jar is full I think I will turn my attention to something more exciting, like collecting belly button lint.

(if it doesn´t work out I´m working on the bitch to do it for me... Blink )

I like creative writing. As a kid I was always writing novels, which I never finished. Now I write screenplays and send them to TV networks. No luck so far unfortunately. I also write poetry from time to time and I write a blog on the subject of films.

I'm also trying to get into amateur filmmaking. I'm currently filming a documentary for my university course but the real ambition is to make a short film for film festivals. And then hopefully have a career in films.

Great thread Thumbs Up

Some cool hobby's, would love to read some of the lyrics or see Jkkpot's finds.
@mahdrof more exciting than nail clippings Shock , as a guitar player my nails are a fine specimen, next time I clip I will be sure to save and ship them to you, though most of the time they tare or chip and I have to bite them off Angry
@awood88 at school I loved writting funny scripts, mainly about friends in strange situations, always got a LOL, but one day we were to write one for a class play, I spent ages writting one, only to be ill the day it was acted out, they all got a chocolate bar for good work....guess who did not get a mention or chocolate bar Disagree
@arsenej1 you know you can combine your hobby's.

Keep 'em coming coming guys...that's coming arsenej1 not the other spelling.

Also, to the songwriters, what songs do you think have the best lyrics, as a huge Floyd fan I love Time, guess its a hard one to answer as I can't really choose from the 100s of songs I'm now thinking of.

So your one of the one's I've heard about that are by far good enough to do, been involved with everything to know how to do it, but knowing the right people held yopu back. You know I really feel for you because I watched the suffering and everyone condemning Mick (real name Bob Deal) be put down for wasting his life and time on a dream that wouldn't come true. Well, it did! Then after he makes it everyone braggs how they knew him, close family members want a slice of the pie, but all along while struggling no one gave two poops about the guy.

I believe it does take the right people to help make things happen in the music industry because I've seen a lot of bar bands that are excellent musicians, but catching the break is what it really takes. Like you said! Rock on! Hope you can still write that one song, never stop writing!

@Greenmohave:
thanx for the support man, yeah, that's the spirit! Mick knows it right, rock on! Thumbs Up

@Biggie:
a Floyd fan myself since childhood, Time has really some great deep crystal-clear lyrics to get into you, but what really grabbed me by the neck and showed me "enlightenment" for the 1st time in my life were the lyrics of the first two Wall songs... In The Flesh & The Thin Ice... I was thirteen and stood there frozen in front of a monophonic record player, realizing I could never write something like this even in a million years... so I better stick to writing music first, and then if a good lyric comes up, it's ok. "Not Now John" lyrics are also very powerful to me.

Nowadays if I'm asked, I'd say all the Use Your Illusion I & II lyrics are powerhouses & among my all time favorites (especially "Estranged"-"Locomotive" ), some Alanis Morissette & Mick Jagger stuff, and probably every single lyric that Jim Steinman has penned! Worship

@Greenmohave - sounds like you keep yourself interested. Also sounds like a bit of fun hanging out with the musicians, I could imagine in your younger years for sure a few nice parties having a cousin in Motley Crue!

Just wanted to say, that was a great read ! love the snake stuff too.

Might try and add something about myself here too.

@ILI_002 - keep up the lyric/music writing.. You a fan of Leonard Cohen? Personally I think he is one of the greatest song-writers / lyricists ever!

you're damn right Jess, Leonard Cohen is unbelievably poetic and his sensuous style is one of a kind...
As Bigfoot said before, hundreds of lyrics come to mind and it's really easy to forget some. Can't believe I didn't mention Elton John/Bernie Taupin's gems "Rocket man" & "Saturday night's all right for fighting"... f*kin' out-of-this-world tunes & all time favorites.. But I'm sure there are more
