Yes!
I don't play much anymore the last few months, just the occasional day. Yesterday I saw the mail from BRM for the new PP freeroll Competition.
I said, ok, let's try and win the first one again. Did it last year with Full Tilt and won the first one, but that was 3600 players.
This one was only 240. I see the next ones running have more players.
But still.... I did it! Just a question of pride really, I WANTED to win this one, not come in second.
4 1/2 hours, went into Heads-Up down about 220.000 to 480.000. 20 minutes and BAM! First victory. Milenko played quite well coming back with 6 to go at the final table for that lead.
I mostly wanted to make a point. You CAN win freerolls if you want to and apply some basic strategy which goes against "regular" accepted strategy. I wrote a HUGE post about it last year on the Full Tilt thing. If you can find it, good luck!

Congratulations on your win, how much did you get? I know what you mean about conventional strategies not being the key to winning freerolls, especially if its a donkfest. Maybe you should make a thread about your freeroll strategy, or if that was part of the old thread, bump it.

You played very well MilenkoK. You were almost out and then...kaboum! major lead wiping most others off the table.
Work on your Heads-Up a bit (more agression and a LOT of smart bluffing ), and you'll stay at the top of the Leaderboard for sure.

Good going Island! When you win one of those freerolls you know you made it through quite the quest. Doesn't matter what they pay, it's just the point that you come in 1st knowing that you've crossed the path of every type of player there is.
Also, good to see a senior Mobster at the top of the list / their game. Good Luck Always!

Wow, have to say I am deeply impressed. I know you are a good tourney player Island, but telling to yourself I want to win this and then doing it is really amazing. Grats to you, very well done. I guess I remember your post/strategy of playing a freeroll on FT from last year, but I think the strategy here is a bit different with such a very much smaller player field, isn´t it ?

Thanks Migo.
The structure is different this time, 5 hours instead of 10+ hours on the FT last year. You need to see some flops earlier. The smaller field also gives you more chances to limp and see some flops.

lol didn't realise you were at the table
I had just won the first one, it finished about 10 min earlier, so I was pretty happy and didn't really feel like playing that one well. Did feel like joking though, especially when my stack got reduced to 170 after about 5 min. lol Not the way I would normally play these things. Was pretty sure he hit 2 pair... K2 I believe? That's why I don't usually call all-ins early on. People will play any 2 cards and hit often enough.
But I had some fun for 15 min. I'll play some in the coming week, not too many though, they drive me NUTS!

Right in the first attempt, you got it. That’s what many call beginner’s luck ,but don’t get stick to this idea, that just meant you knew what you had to do to reach the top and keep there till there were no one else sit around you. A freeroll win is always a good test for an MTT with buy-in. Keep focused on the game.
