I'm really starting to wonder what it takes to start a new poker site? I've been playing on and off now for about 5 years online. I've been playing poker for about 8 years in total. The way i see it is that it probably really isnt that hard to start my own. I think if I could find a couple large investors and a good name i would be well on my way. I already know a few good tech guys that could get the servers up and running, my uncle and grandfather are both great accountants. Really what else is there to it.

I really think there needs to be a few more sites out therer and if someone could set a site up to abide by all rules set forth by most countries they would be the next billionaires. Most U.S. players would accept the fact that our crooked government would want any withdraws taxed. I don't know what regulations would need to be established, but get the U.K., U.S. and Russia all in one site and the money would flow. Nothing toward all other countries because you'd want them all. The key is to abide by all regulations set forth by each country.

I think it would be incredibly difficult.. I'm sorry, but I think you're being naive unless you already have a lot of things going for you.
As mascona points out, take a look at Kingdom of Poker, or any other failed (small) sites. That is the best you can hope for really. The market (online poker) is diminishing, not expanding. If anything, we're going to see a reduction of poker sites and merging of networks, independent sites joining networks, etc.

Hi guys!!
Create a new poker site is easy (with the money, tools and skills necessary). Make it work... really hard. The only way you can make it work is sign with a skin (as ipoker, for example) and spend $$$$ during lot of time trying to 'win' the traffic.

I feel the same way. Look at High Pulse as well. A total disaster in the end.
I also believe independants will have to join larger networks. Merging networks like Bwin and Party not too long ago.
The market is changing fast, and I think it's becme a big risk to step in now.

PKR has been talking about it too - their own official line when they released the "lite" (2D) version was that if they were going to merge into a larger network, they wouldn't be considered unless they had 2D software.. And given that the traffic there is continuing to diminish and they're about to release new 2D software that allows for independent window tiling...

nice. I was never crazy about the tables/graphics. I prefer the regular tiling windows.
Kind of gave up on them because of that. hope the new 2D comes out soon?

want to work, great work but need investor, that's not good work. Even Bill Gates start his work from garage. Start your idea with your own power, my friend. that's realistic one.Even your uncle and grandfather are accountant. I don't mean tilt with you, but I did it before and got very bad result. Make agood proposal and sell it, that's more realistic. Good luck

I think it is not so simple, there must be some complicated bureaucratic issues, but ultimately it is to start one has to be one that comes to bring down many, in fact I confess that in my opinion the great poker site has not yet been released, we have several options good quality, but one that comes to be the number one I still think it does not appear, the friend who knows not launch the site that may be

Well, the 2D/Lite version has been out for quite a while, but so far it's been largely the same as the 3D one, in regards to the actual layout and structure, the only difference really was character icons rather than avatars/
But this new 2D version, which allows detachable/tiling windows (including detachable lobby) is due out by the end of March - it was originally scheduled for the end of Feb but was delayed, but official release data is currently mid-late March.. So pretty soon really.
It may include these features in the 3D software too actually, but obviously if you're a grinder - it's probably much better to do this in the 2D version.
