Turn it off, are you kidding? When the chat turns abusive it usually means I've stacked the guy and he's on tilt. Stacking player = mahdrof happy! Tilting player exploding in the chat box is also player ripe to be stacked again so don't ever turn that baby off. Learn to laugh at the sucker who has donated to your stack. Mwahahahahahaha!

LOL, social experimentation notwithstanding you are a cold and awesome individual heh.
For the op, although mahdrof exposes himself to abuse as you can see its just another bit of info for the puzzle. 100% of the time a player is invested enough to spam chat his game is being affected. Emotional people playing poker are tilt machines and i can say i personally play worse once i get bothered enough to slam someone in chat.
For 99% of the time a player flaming you in chat means you just outplayed them and they just can't take it. Dont worry be happy. On Merge there is an emote when you type in "cry" that spouts tears like a baby and that usually shuts them OR me up asap once dropped lol.
If the abuse is rather scathing and not worth the hassle then i think you can isolate people by blocking their chat specifically? In extreme cases click the mod button and make an example. You're doing both others and the offending player a service. Noone will know who alerted the mod either.

Not necessary that, that kind of chat comes from players that have lost a hand. I have seen multiple times, players not in the hand reacting to plays where they werent involved because they considered the play stupid for example
But best thing is to turn off the chat if you get annoyed.

I had funny thing happen other night STUD Hi/Lo Game, guy was doing old zzzzzzzzzzzz thing i said to him go bed if he was tired , then he started calling me and others moron's,I said i was was playing 2+ games at same time and i was looking at OP's cards as u do in stud/Razz etc(in this game),then he started calling me and others moron's even more and zzzzzzzzz, then just after that it was 5 min break, i said to him "zzzzzzzz come on dealer i haven't got all day lol" and " OP'are you calling the dealer a moron lol" then he really spit the dummy, and started swearing , and someone called moderator (it wasn't me) after that he didn't say word lol I just usually ignore, but sometimes I give back with out being to full on( (and i censor my self) as i don't want chat ban lol
