Do Pokerstars think women are inferior players ? How else to explain the huge number of women only tournaments they run - when there are no men only equivalents? It's not as if women have to identify their gender at the table.

aye,can't understand why if there's women only tourneys there are no men only ones because if it was the other way round the women would be complaining to all and sundry.

There is no need for positive discrimination for women in poker. I decline to play in women only poker games because gender is not a significant aspect of play. It is not possible to say if women players are superior or inferior players - I would be interested to know if there have been any studies in this area.

poker is like dateing here in canada, if an older man want's a younger female, he's called a pervert.. if an older woman want's a younger man , she's called a cougar, reverse discrimination.

I'm surprised and disappointed women have not been complaining. I could understand a possibility for harassment of a nervous new female player in a real life game - sexist comments and the like - but not on line.

I the future they are planing to expand that idea prabably for: homo only..., christians only .., lefthanded only ..., redhairy only......................................and so on TOURNAMENTS.

kinda baffles me why anyone gives a s**t if there is women only games, not like there is no other games to play on stars. Dont really see the point of them but tbh why not who cares

I see lots of women clearing up the tables, mainly at restaurants. It's just a drive to bring more women in to the game, in general its a blokes game and it does put some women off, so keeping the market open to them is good for business.

Well, I used to love the Facebook league. That was cancelled. But now there is a Facebook league for women only.

People just need to accept the fact, that the white male is no longer the majority.
Who cares that there's more women only tourneys. I think we should be happy that poker rooms are focusing on drawing in more women, as not only does it increase the player base, but it's also more women at the tables to chat with

I don’t think that is a problem. I think they increase the number of women only tourneys because they know there are lots of women playing and they want to call their attention in the better way. And what better way than to have tourneys just for them. It’s like having tourneys just for French, or for Portuguese, fine with me.

My friend plays with a girls name and picture there and he was stalked in the last time Thats true. But he can´t play in women tourney because he is a man. And i think women only tourneys are ok for the real ladys.
The play must be different in these tourneys! And since they represent about 2-5% of the poker players, I don't mind if they want to play together sometimes. It's not sexism IMO, it's just restricted events... If they wanna play together then great, less nits at the other tables Just kidding, I know some women know how to play agressive, but most of them play very, tight that's why they win in bars

just a side note- there where some "men" only tourneys at Poker Stars back in December/January- and as a personal observation- the women only tourneys have alot of tough/good players- I have not finished well in these compared to other MTT-IMHO it is also nice in the women's tourneys to not have to deal with some of the mouthier male players. it isn't being sexist it is just a way for the site to be able to draw more female players-

i think you are looking too seriously at this issue- imho jokerstars are just constantly trying to attract all sorts of players from around the world and keep them engaged- it doesn't matter in the end if a player is black/white/yellow has balls or boobs the only thing that matters is the player playing for real cash- and thats why there are all sorts of poker forms, tournament types, restrictions, time formats etc.- we are spoiled by choise
