Was this just unlucky   0
Hi all, I played on the BRM Freeroll, on Pokerstars, I was on the button holding QQ and two players go all in. I'm sitting thinking, these guys have been playing very loose aggressive so I decided to call, they both show rag aces.

flop 2h 4d 5s 9s 3d so they hit their straight, was it bad timing calling all in with QQ on the button.

any advice would help ! Smile

Which state of the tournament this was early or later?? I think a call with QQ against 2 loose players isn´t so good but when i look at the BRM Freerolls there are a lot of all-ins in early game with crappy aces so i would have called also. But normally if there are 2 all-ins before you there is no problem of folding QQ if you didn´t have enough chips to lose a big hand.

For BRM games calling with such a hand is never bad i believe since most of the players
must be playing lotto there like it was when i was participating in the FT's leaderboard unless
you are on the late stages of the game where you consider of folding the hand according
to the play of the players involved.

Is there really a time when we loose like that thats not unlucky? Smile

I wouldn't say its a bad call if anyone made a bad play it was them, it just happens, its like natural selection.

Not bad call, play at freeroll , especially early phase is good. Since you have no luck why continue play at this game ? That's bad luck. How your feeling when play the card is more important for your case? try and test your instinct when play freeroll cos many bad all in from your opponent, math doesn't working, like your case. Theory also not working. Good luck next

I all, it was in the eairly stages. they were playing very lose almost always n every pot since the beggining.

so maybe it was bad luck.

I really don't think your call was a bad decision but here is a great example of freerolls vs tournaments.

On a tournament on which you need to pay the entry fee you would never encounter such behaviour...

In any real tournament, you would probably see a guy turn KK, AA or AK... But since it's a freeroll, and everybody plays like it's bingo, then of course you can't fold QQ ever pre flop. JJ maybe, but QQ never.

And yes it was just bad luck, you had them both dominated. Better luck next time Smile

Never can say it's wrong time or right time in a Freeroll. I'm not going to say you were wrong, just bad timing. Better luck in the future. Freerolls are tuff and reckless.

It really depends on where the tournament currently is. If it's well before you start hitting a real payout, I'd say it's an easy call. If however, you're down to the final 4 or so players, where payouts jump quite a bit, I'd say it's definitely a fold if either of them has you covered or could cripple you.

Really though, in freerolls, it's an entirely different ballgame, since the donks ranges are so wide, usually any PP/any face card seems good enough to ship with. QQ is defiinitely dominating a lot of what the donks will be shoving with.

I also got a lot of time in this situation and lost with a strong pair, now with AA, KK, QQ, JJ, or AK, I'm an all in. Having an ace with weak kicker is likely to fold, and fold all sorts of connectors and suited hands. Noe If a player will fall in the lottery then it does not scare, and then rely on luck.
P.S.
Do not be upset because of the loss in the freeroll you have nothing to lose and a lot of these tournaments are just fish for good luck

I think it was a good call, as freeroll tournaments are far from showing the level of play you will come across when you start buying into tournaments. I used to play a lot of freerolls, and the important thing is not to let donk calls and stupid blind luck upset you. I found that if you play good solid poker you will win your share of these, and the stupid blind luck players will win one in a blue moon when all the planets align. GL

Exacto-mundo!

It's straight up unlucky to lose to their shitty hands, but there's little you can do other than do the same next time round. Although how deep you are and stack sizes count for a lot later on obviously.

Freeroll... Got it so often in Tournaments with buy in. QQ, KK, and weak A calls or goes all in. No matter of betsize before. But i watched who made these moves. Most time "we got good Adv.!" eatern Europeans.
They killed my fn of play at Stars, and now, at PKR, there are much less- and the good results come back!

It was definitely the best call. I'd call it over and over. First I'd say it's a free roll so who cares how tight or loose they are, you had a great chance of tripling up. Sure the cards win rate goes down with more players in, but that's always true.

Here would be my reasoning for not calling. Especially if you have already chipped up a bit from the initial starting stack. Pocket queens are definitely a good starting hand, but the more players in the pot, the less likely your hand will stay the best by the river. If you are in no danger of busting out, then with an all-in & a call you get to see the hands anyway. Dump it & wait for a really good spot, like pair over pair, or you have flopped a set. One thing about freerolls is you usually can get paid on your big hands. With too much action, I'd just lay the queens down. that's just me though.

RIGGED RIVER!!! lol just kidding, I hate poker stars' rivers lol..Anyway I don't think you made the wrong decision because you were holding a pretty strong hand, and I don't think you have overvalued you hand by calling them.. Most of us, I think, would have re-raised the pot(depends alot the position) loose player in my oppinion are maniacs and they are less then mediocre players...
