It's becoming a little frustrating, but I can't seem to get to the $250 mark with my BR. I know it's not a lot of money, but I go up and then go down, but can't seem to break the $250 mark. Maybe I try to hard when I get close and start losing money again. I've went down as low as $30.00 and then climb back up. Does anyone ever get to a certain amount in their BR then can't seem to climb any higher?

I only play the $1.10 to $5.50 SnG' / Tournaments so I play for fun for the most part, but is there some secrets to greater success that any of the Mobsters would like to share?

When you start the downfall do you take a break from playing for a few days or what? Just curious as to what some of your basic rules are that you abide by or to.

In something like 5 years of poker i have had break even swings yes, its frustrating but better then down.
Wanted greater succes you have to invest into poker imo, less poker and more study, you can allways do better, better range, better reads, better bankrollmanagement and more important better ICM, allways play to win, many people think they do but they totally dont (including me Tongue)

I agree with Doomdy, flatline is better than downswing. If you play for fun and are getting better and are working on your game it will eventually go back up. Share some hands on BRM where things went wrong and you will get some interesting suggestions from some good players here. Definitely helped me in 2011, although you wouldn't know it from the downswing I am going through now.... Sad

I had same experience . Very strange, I ever think host arrange like that but I never could prove it and I thought it's not make sense. I also try hard but never get significant improvement.

Maybe we too many play s n g. That way really not good to improve our bankroll. Just down and up, not up and down Disagree

I tried like this ; Play s n g until win few $, example ; win $ 5, spent it to play MTT $ 3, like that everyday. Just MTT make our bankroll get significant improvement. Don't hope from s n g, except HU.
I trying play HU now. Also try play satelitte to play bigger MTT. I explain more at my blog, would you like check and discuss again later?

Do you play at merge ? what 's your nickname at merge ?

Good Luck GM. Please share if you have new/ another idea. Smile Smile

Don't forget that poker is a highly psychological games, and I have experienced this feeling of not being able to surpass a certain dollar level as well. Sometimes when you set yourself goals or feel that certain obstacles are in your way, you might start playing in a way which is not your natural style and your game will suffer. As your game suffers you will get further and further away from goal and your play will spiral.

Its hard to beat micro sng's long term because of the rake. If your playing 5$ sng's with less then 45 players id suggest maybe stopping. Only because they dont pay so great compared to the damage one does to your bankroll. So if you are going to play one the ROI of a 45 player makes more sense to me personally. I know others will argue it should be other way around but the less people at that buy-in makes the game either tighter or better players play them and soak up most the top prizes.

Obviously i would play them sparingly in combination with your more comfortable games. I mean comfortable in terms of BR. i know 5$ isnt big money but im working on a very conservative management plan.

At the end of the day because poker is so dynamic the swings are inevitable and doomdy is right in saying break even poker is better then losing streak and u are getting points too. I know focusing on a number is no good. its only when you start developing game strategies like a schedule and playing each hand like its a big deal, really thinking about how you could avoid that loss next time and always trying to be positive, then things all start to click in place.

I think you'r a good player GM. You are level headed in forums too so i see no reason why you shouldn't enjoy a nice run sooner then later. Im sure if you had more time to devout to playing around work and stuff ud be levelling faster.

Its good to be in your money and not get under. Dont get disappointed or frustrated
because you cant pass that limit. If you see you are titling at some point cause of this
either get a brake or try another variation of the game. gl

Serpang, I have only found one site to play on which is Carbon, a part of the Merge Network and I go by Greenmohave. I will read your blog and probably alredy have since I read most everyones blog in the forum. I follow MicroMachina's blog, mahdrof's blog and generally any others due to the knowledge they share in them. So yes, I will post in yours to discuss some HU since I've never played other then at final tables for the win.

That's got to be a lot of my problem. I mean when I get close to the $200 to $250.00 range maybe I'm trying to hard breaking my normal playing practices or something which becomes a mental game with myself. I'll soon start losing then until the panic mode or paranoia sets in and I start playing really tight due to not wanting to lose all my BR. This is when I start climbing back up the ladder increasing my BR. I need to stop and think like Micro states and playing all hands using the same strategy or something.

Thaks to all you Mobsters for the good feedback and support!

Are you saying that I should take some of the opportunities like the poker school challenges and do some reading in poker books? I believe that's good advice and probably what I need to do since I'm really inconsistant besides not understanding a lot of things like good reads, range or ICM. Any suggestions would be appreciated so I follow up to see. Thanks to you all!

the only secret there is to share with you is this- if you want to be a winning player you must have a superuser account Big Smile or be in a team of colluders at the very least Cool if you want to invest some cash you can hire someone to make you a decent bot- or just surf the market for the most profitable and reputable ones

I think the only way to reach your goal is to play constantly on the level you play when you have a low BR and when you get on tilt you better take a break and don´t play the same day so you can calm down.

GL for reaching your goal Smile

Hi again Green, just out of curiousity are you making use of rake back offers and or gift offers? I know being from the states there's not a lot of oppotunities out there for you but they really can add up, and add up fast.

Dude, I think first you should let it go, it may be exactly what is preventing you pass this value, and then makes sure to play loose, the business is to concentrate on the game, always play to win, do not be disheartened when the losses come and remain focused on winning

I´m only a breakeven player in the past, but i think with a 100 stack brm you are on the right site. This is a little bit tight, but so you can better protect against the swings at the micros. I think the most players climb up to fast with not enough expirience in the higher level.

Arithmajik, I'm not sure about rake and whetherI'm receiving it or not. I know that sounds like inexperience and I am at that (inexperienced). All I know is everytime I login I receive a popup stating I've had $0.07, $0.12, etc. added to my account, but don't know if that's rake i'm receiving or not.
I do watch for bonues like in February there was a code to enter when depositing so just for the purpose of getting the deposit bonus I deposited $40.00 to gain a 50% deposit bonus. I have accumulated over a 1000 points which can be transferred in to cash, but a lot of points needed to gain a little cash.

Also, try to play enough to stay at a level that qualifies me for special freerolls, bonuses, etc.
I'll watch for feedback on the rake.

Ok, so I'm guessing you're playing at Carbon Poker then of one of the other skins for that network right? If so then you're definitely getting about 6% back as long as you're at least Earth level.

Rake which I'm sure you know is the fee you pay to play. It comes out of the pot on cash games and is the fee for tournaments ie. $1 + 0.10 means you payed 10 cents to the house just for playing.

Rake Back is when they give you a portion of those fees back. Often times you can get 40% or more on certain offers.

It's good that you're getting the deposit bonuses when you can because they usually add to the rakeback you're getting for your VIP level.

Green since you are a depositing player i suggest you to try one of the Cake poker
Network sites (the big sites from that network) since you get a very good deposit
bonus, a rake back deal and the points system is dealt which means you gain
points even if you havent called the BB.

Its much easier to clear a bonus like that.

Take advantage of it before its gone too Smile

It's clear to me that this is a mental limit and right now it's affecting your game...

Same thing happend to me when i first started playing online poker and for me always worked to change the game just to pass that limit Smile
