Winning strategy for Micro Mtt and freerolls ?  0
So i was wondering , if u have anything to share on this opinion : I believe in order to crack a micro Mtt , or freeroll , you mustn't play very tight , cause even if you only play monster hands , you'll still end up loosing , especially in the first 4-5 levels , I think it's better to play a little loose at first ( said a little , don't ambush me Smile ) manage to build a decent chip stack , and then u can turn into a tight maniac , for me it worked pretty well , playing the brm freerolls , I'm 2nd in the leaderboard , or micro Mtt, maybe it's just luck , who knows , but I get good results . So please share your opinion on this matter Smile.

I agree on your strategy, I think it's quite a common way to play.

The tough part I find is shutting up shop for a bit when my stack has been doubled/tripled etc up - I tend to bleed chips unnecessarily.

thanks for sharing your method cause that always pass to me. Aww crap! Aww crap! Aww crap!
in the beggining i start with too much agressivity sometimes it works but not for so long time...
then i loose quick with good cards bad cards, its almost the same.

congratulations for your good classificacion Blink

Hi guys!!

I like to play suited conectors (and no suited if the table is very tight), low pairs and goods one gap in 3rd-4th levels leaving 1st and 2nd just for real strong starting hands.

Standard tight game in first levels work well too. But sooner or later we must play a little more loose to do a good result.

If you are second on the leaderboard then your strategy does work perfectly, I will give it a try and see if it works for me, wish me luck my friend. Mobster

In the early levels of this type of tournaments i try to see a lot of flops for less chips if possible even with some bad hands maybe i get a big hand and when i get i often get donks who call so an nice double or triple up and when i have some chips i just play monsters normally it works pretty well for me Smile

After getting tired of play money games, last fall I decided to try to build a bankroll from scratch. At that time I was only registered on PS and not able to play regularly. By christmas I had gotten up to about $25.00 and in February came across BRM and started playing the freerolls on 888 as well...later added PKR PP Unibet Titan and Carbon. This added $48 to my roll but then I wasn't aware that 888 had a requirement of generating so much rake within so much time or they take back their $8 and they scooped it back. So by mid March I had $65. I expect to hit $100 this weekend and I have qualified for 14 entries into $5000 freerols and 21 entries for $2000 freerols.

Hardly a rags to riches story so far Big Smile but I thought I would offer some observations from a relatively newer player. Maybe you will find someething of benefit in my ramblings.

Unless I want to take a shot to get to practice some big stack play early in the tourney, I play very tight in the first 5-10 hands as the all ins go and the tables get shuffled. Enter pots at minimum cost and dont get attached to drawing hands once in the pot and you start to see bets of 1/3 to 1/5 of your stack. if I ever go on the draw early it is only because it is a draw for the nuts and I am hoping to be that suckout guy that drives the villan crazy. Obviously the more outs I have the easier it is to make that call.

Mid levels is tight/aggressive particularly post flop when position is good.Keep an eye on the tourney info and figure out what you need to make the bubble and do not risk any more than that which would take you out of the money without the nuts.

1. What kind of freeroll is it...a qualifier or are you playing for cash>

On PS, apart from private freerolls, you pretty much have to win a qualifier to play for free cash. Typically 600-100000 entrants that play for 48-72 seats.
KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE.....unless you are also playing in a points league on that room, a 72 is just as good as a 1 as far as the entry into the cash freeroll. So I build my stack to the point I feel I can park it and still win the prize. i use the average stack sizes to try to calculate what I need.

This can be very hard to do and just last week i broke my own rule in a WSOP qualifier. I had $175,000 and was satisfied I was good to get one of the 25 seats. With a hunderd or so players left to go AA came up and I went with it only to drop my stack dow to $110,000 with a runner runner suckout loss.

I ground out a fold down to 2bb and only 30 players left when I hit AA again....and yup taken down by a 53s 5 spots out.

Took my eyes off the prize and it cost me the seat.

On the other end of the spectrum...I hit the final table in a Hubbles 9000 once night...went heads up at 3:00am with work in the morning with a 2-1 chiplead. Said good night and the poor chap sat there and called every hand until he got first place.....

Once the bubble burst there is usually another round of mad all ins which I usually avoid if I have a stack big enough to be able to scare paople of their blinds. otherwise its back to tight and aggressive.

Here is something that most of you might find unusual. on these freerolls I do not subscribe to the view that any ace with 10bb or less is a shove. i am finding that i am having better results playing for the suckout....which means shoving with what is likely the worst starting hand than the villans have. So for me at this stage I try to pick a time where the big stack has folded (very important as this villan seems to suck out against the small stack more often) and other smaller stacks have raised or shoved. A recent example of my succes with this:

Sunday in the PP $5000 boster I hit the bubble short stacked and UTG +1 with 1bb and 56os....nice tripple up....my bb gets folded back to me and I am up to almost 40k and the bubble busrts and I am in the cash...I fold my small blind and hit AA on the button....big stack shoves...... I type in the chat box...".this is where it all ends for me"...shoved.....lose to a 96s

I was so sure of it i was gonna fold those aces but I had to shove just to test my theory Aww crap!

So I invite you to bring the suckout into your arsenal and FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE MACHINE Dollar Dollar Evil

i think every jackle says is good info i have made the same mistakes many of times i bet many things that happen to us is haveing the edge with the best hand preflops ... this is where the mistakes are made we have to conquer that and fold no matter how ittimitateing these cards are early middle and late stages . thanks for the post... i need to place in the money and this seems to be my exact same problem .. only i hit like ace q suited ak or aa kk qq...

I agree with you about the way to play in the first levels, people aren’t still that involved in the game and some players will go with anything to try to rob you, or even if it is just because they got tired and want to lose instead of closing the window. Only after that first part it will be considered a tourney. But I don’t know if being that tight will help you. You know sometimes those hands are hard to come, and other times, when they come, there’s just no one to play against us. But if it is working with you that fine that even puts you in second in the leaderboard, I still I will give your strategy a chance the next time I play one of BRM’s freerolls, want to get to the paid places too!
