Freeroll exit  0
Yeah it's only a freeroll - but I think this scenario happens in money tournaments often too.

I bet out 3xBB (late position) and have 2000k behind me after this action.

A dude that had been shoving (on 1000k chips) goes all in - he's on the button.

I think to myself, AJoff, not often a hand to call with but on this occassion I would.

THEN, BB goes all in with 1600k.

It smells like a squeeze play..

I think a little, then call.

Shover has 77 - okay

BB shows A9off

Flop comes down 4Ace9 - they fullhouse. Aww crap!

Would you have called?

No, early on I only play aces, kings, and queens, and I just shove on them, and let a fish meet his fate. Later on, I wouldn't have bet, I would have just called and used position to my advantage.

In a real money tournament i wouldn't call here, but in a freeroll it is a call anyday. One gets to see far worse hands than A9o in this situations in those donkaments.

To call with A9 off in a freeroll tournaments it is not a very bad call, like shokaku says. I had a lot off bead beats from hands like 64 off; 730ff; etc. Anyway THIS is POKER!!! Smile

True enough , freerolls are on a whole diferent planet than actual money poker , the same rules don't apply , you'll eventually figure out your own freeroll strategy , which suits you best , in a freeroll I also would've called with your hand , real tournament , not really , but as I said , freeroll poker is extraterestrial poker.

You'd shift your stack with several people to act behind with A9??

It doesn't make sense. For a start it's the entire stack for 1000 chips (blinds are small like 15/30).

To squeeze is so risky at that point, early in a tournament. Freeroll yeah, maybe that means someone plays looser but no, I've seen it in many games for money too.

People treat aces like that with wayyy too much respect and play them like the nuts.

a squeeze is hardly good anywhere in a freeroll .. you will be called very often.
I can't blame you that much for calling.. anyways it is a freeroll and i won't say i don't do that sometimes and go on with life but.. the right thing to do (in a freeroll) is to fold and pick the right spots and just rely on the big edge you should have against them weaker players.

I don't play to many freerolls, but based on position, how well I've gotten to know players at table and whether or not it's early would be the determining factors for me. Most generally in a freeroll I would call with A,J. I believe that's what you had and BB had the A,( and hit on the flop. Poop Happens! Especially in freerolls.

A9o is not a hand I like at all I dont like A d**k all when its unsuited unless like sadamman said its early n your pushing around donks but really they have so much chance to fail I dont know i am more of a straight n flush chaser than I am a KK or AA or AK lol

Of course it does many times, on real money you should play in bankroll to avoid such situations to affect you too much...

ON freerolls the calls are a lot more loose than on real money though.
