It appears as though you finished your sentence before the
Any how, this is how ALL
poker bonuses work.
They're match-up bonuses - basically you deposit $X and you have to earn the
poker site something like 2.5X this amount before they release it. For 1st deposit bonuses anything from around 35%-60% rake back on your
bonus is common. For example - if you received a 40% deal, this would mean for every $1 of
bonus you wanted to release, you would need to rake in $2.50 for the site - and ultimately you would get 40% rake back. Reload bonuses generally clear at higher rates (lower RB).
------------
This might seem really obvious (it is) but some people seem to miss this, so I'll just spell it out.
When working out whether a
poker bonus is good or not you need to do this:
* Find out the clearance rate of points vs
bonus dollars
* Find out how many points you get per dollar of rake
* Calculate the percentage of rakeback your
bonus is worth
Example
Site XYZ says "We give you up to $500 1st deposit
bonus"
You check the terms and the say * For every $1 of
bonus, you must earn 100 player points
So you have a look and it turns out for every $1 in rake you pay, you get 50 player points.
so 100 points = $2 in rake
So to clear the $500 you must rake 500 * $2 = $1000
This means your rake back for the
bonus is calculated @ $500 / $1000 = 50% RB = no bad
Now let's look at next offer
Poker site FGH says "100% matchup up to $2000.00 !!!!!!!'
Wow ! $2000! lets take a look - OK - they say for every $1 of
bonus you need to clear, you must earn 10pts ! Sounds great = but wait, let's see what the points/rake system is:
turns out for every $1 in rake you pay, you only earn 2 pts.
So if you want to clear $2000.00 you need to earn 2000 * (10/2) = $10.0000!
So your rakeback on this deal is actually $2000/$10000 = 20% Rake back - Terrible !!
***********
So don't be fooled by large numbers = always check
bonus value in terms of RakeBack and ALWAYS check how long you have to clear it and whether it releases in chunks or in a lump : if it's a lump sum, this is fine - but you need to be careful, because if you clear 90% of it and time runs out, you'll get nothing.
