Bluffing!  0
Well, I wont to start one thread for BRM poker school tread. I could google it and copy/past from ppl who know more then me but that is not point. I wont to write intro with my own words and see everyone giving their own 5 cents and opinions regarding this topic. Some hand histories with good and bet bluffs would be great. Also, if you read something interesting regarding this topic feel free to post it here.

Since I am Heads Up player its almost impossible not to bluff since in HU games you cant just wait for good hands and if you play without bluffing its hard to get paid off. One of most important things is to know what kind of player you thinking about bluffing. There are players that will call you on anything. A high, gutshot, back door flush draw or they will just call you to bluff later if you stop betting. Those players you should never try to bluff. Just wait for hand and bet big for value. And if you notice that someone continue only with great hand...then you should stab as a bluff almost every time. Another important thing is that when you blufing on flop you should bluff on dry boards. Bluffing on flop 8 Heart 10 Heart J Diamond is bad idea. In other hand bluffing on K Spade 2 Club 7 Heart is almost mandatory in position.
Also In bluffing is important to sell a story. You cant represent having K all the way and then keep betting when A hits river. That doesn't make sense.
Another important thing is bet sizing. Your bluffs needs to be EV+ in long run. You can see often bad players making insane bets as a bluff. For example, pot is 350 and guy bets 1400. Yes, his bluff will work more often, but will it work often enough? If you bet 200 (standard bet size) there, your bluff needs to work little more then 1 in 2 times to be profitable. If you bet 1400 your bluff needs to work more then 4 in 5 times to be profitable! And that is almost impossible.
....

I am not the best bluffer but i know when to stop a line to save chips.
More an old skool then new skool allthough i use some new stuff.
Basicly my MTT game is nittyness untill the bubble comes insight, then open up, then bust or hit ITM, then some nittyness comes allong, then FT comes insight so open up.
When reaching FT i can be a real maniac at times, need to work on that so i dont OVERdue.
Rule mostly is maniacs FT win it or bust at 10th Agree

Anyway, need to work on my bluff skills Evil

im no good at bluffing. it normally gets me into bother so i try not to do it so much now. c-bets and double barrels in position sometimes but i try not to do it very often.

I have to admit also that im not very good at bluffing, and there is no poker game
without the need of a bluff at some point.

Some times the cards might come your way and get the finishing result you wished,
either it is a ring game or a tourney, but that cant happen for ever.

So a few good bluffs is a must, if you are not one of those who bluff hand after hand.
Something real frustrating here is when you know a player for his bluffs, he keeps bluffing
every single hand he gets, and when you decide to call, he is just betting on nuts Smile

well it might sound very arrogant what im gonna say regarding bluffing. i always did it at the right moment, always when the villian is supposed NOT to call, because the board doesnt allow him. situations, where usualy everyone with brain would lay down his hand.

what i hardly learned due to my arrogance is....there is some players you just cant bluff, they will call, no matter what they hit, even with Ace high.

so my contribution to the bluffin thread: if you face a player you cant bluff, just let the fool take the couple blinds. he decided to play this hand untill allin if necessary.

Right, since my experience like that. I think cause we in anger or upset so our feeling didn't work well.
In good stake if I got the case I can keep calm and finally catch him. So the key is keep calm, would you think ? please share Smile

i don't even know if bluffing can be called bluffing when playing heads up- it's just an essential tool in your arsenal, so i can call it a part of the game, without strategically planned bluffing i doubt if one should consider playing heads up at all- i think when bluffing heads up, you should set yourself some strict rules and follow them regularly (i.e. similar bet size, places in a hand where to bet etc.)

I agree, I don't think Tom Dwan would get half of the respect he gets if he wasn't as cool as a cucumber when he's doing it.

Pulling off bluffs is a major part in being a winning player(speaking as a cash NLHE player, tourns and it's likes are a little diffrent), you can not just relly on the good times.
I mainly played FR then switch to SH in my later on-line gaming(now mainly playing live)
SH is all about the bluff, spot the player who can fold, dont attack calling stations, HUD is a must.
Know your player, IE, if a player is only playing premium, you can call him with any 2 knowing if the flop is low-mid you should be able to get him to drop his.
Image plays an important part, yours and the villains.
Spot the multi tabler who is paying little attention to the player style, but only his cards, easy to outplay.
As OP says, tell a story, you can not just play like a fish, you need respect.
Never show a bluff.
Old post on semi bluffing - http://www.bankrollmob.com/forum.asp?mode=thread&id...
LAG players IMO get away with more bluffs as they are harder to put on a hand...and aggression scares folk.
Play selectively, play with positivity..Tony G "I played it like a set, even I thought I had a set"

Frankly i do not bluff too many times, and frankly i almost semi-bluff...

With other words i always open good hands and if i miss the flop i always fire a contibet no matter what. So my hand can always improve Smile
