MTT's and SNG's from now on - no cash games  0

I made biggest wins at SNG's and MTT's previously and I think the same applies now.

I built a bankroll (quite small) with SNGs crushing micro limits for the most part then decided to play cash games again.

Bad idea.

Anyway long story short, it's tournaments from now on baby Thumbs Up

i also love sng and mtt ,but just this week i read some articles about cashgames and it seems that the biggest cash is to be earned on the cashtables,,

So, now i am confused...???!!!

should i try to specialize in cashgames???

damn,, so confusing...haha,,,well

new plan ,first do good in sng's and mtt's ,build a deasent BR and then ill go for them cashgames...

at least i am gonna try grind those...after some studying of course..

Now i am playing a little bit on the 11 Dollar Sngs normally i used to play on 3 dollar tables but i wanted to try the 11 dollar cause on the 3 dollar there where to much donk calls like call an all-in with k-10 offsuit.
uhhcallmi i would suggest you to play the thing where you are comfortable even if in cash games you can make more money Blink

thats the best bet no pun intended.

Cash games = money straight away/ less time invested...but is much harder. If you can play TAG you will win money. Don't try fancy play on micro players.

SNG's and MTT by their nature mean you have less chance of winning every time, but if you're solid in the long run you get ITM enough and you'll build a roll.

Double or nothing SNG's are a good start.

Definitely - with the exception of randomly binking some major tournament. Cash tables will get you money a lot quicker and you'll earn a lot more in rakeback, bonuses and VIP rewards as well.

SNG/MTT is a lot more stable..

I'm like noonlion - trying to focus mostly on tournament..

Cash tables are fantastic if you have the discipline for them - however - if you have any degenerate/gambler tenancies they can be a very quick path to busto.

If you're good with bankroll management though and also good at deep-stack play, then I guess cash tables are best.

aye,i know how you feel i've got he same problem, whereas i cash in some tourneys but when its a cash game, well i just seem to struggle with putting opponents on their hands and as a result i'm losing
more than i should.so i'm giving up the cash games for a week or two as well.

gl in the tourneys noonlion

Big Smile

I mainly stick to SnG's myself and have never played in any MTT's as of yet. What level of SnG's, I mean I see you stated micros, but what level of micros $1.10, $2.20, $5.50 and also how many players? Just curious if your playing the 27 or 45 player games! If you don't mind where are you playing if you can state that? I'm at Carbon in which BRM supports! Good Luck!

MTTs called donkaments, cos 1 donk/fish can have 6/7 good run and bink a tourney and have a huge ROI. Long run MTT he will loose it though.
I wud recommend SNG instead off MTT to build a bankroll but allways play wot your good at.

As I know, some player make success at cash game but not make good profit at s n g and MTT, other player opposite, glad knowing you found your way noonlion. If you have confidence there I am sure you will succeed. Good luck

I think it all depends in what you feel comfortable playing, and what kind of game is the one
that brings you the more stable profit.
Someone should try all the versions and decide according to his/her data and results
after some period (not too long, not too short).

I'm currently looking at some of my cash table stats and I am having the fairly obvious pointed out to me, mistakes I knew I was making.

My post flop play is near perfect in terms of betting - but I was playing too many hands...you live and learn.

In a tourney this isn't possible, so it'll help to discipline the number of hands i bet playing sngs.

I have been good at cash games in the past - discipline is the main thing I need to work on, patience.

Till today, I have only found a room where cash games worked for me. It was on Yachting Poker. Maybe because it were almost always the same players, maybe because they were less experienced and my small experience fitted just fine there, the truth is that, each time I try to go on the ring games in other rooms, things never run fine. If one is able to realize something like this, just like you did, so the best thing to do is to adapt strategy. You do well in concentrating on tourneys noonlion. GL

The same for me... The only site in which I can make some money on cash games is Yachting Poker... At Stars I prefer SnG and MTT where I can do quite good.

How ever, I would say that if you are a nice cash games player, you can earn a lot of money there... But as a friend says, as easy as it comes it goes... So, for building a bankroll I would certainly choose SnG 1,5 or 3,5 and some MTT with less 6 dolars buyin.

Well a good start so far! Big Smile

Some 1sts, several 2nds, and a couple 4ths.

Few hiccups, adjusting to tables at new unnamed site.

SNG's baby!!

the last 3 days i played cashgames,,, constantly buying in for 2$ on 0.5/0.10 tables

and 3$ on 0.10/0.20 tables... short stack strategy... and made 65$ from 10

today i enter again 3$ and made it around 22 dollar...and did not leave the table,,almost did leave to start again with 3$,

then i got K-K all in against 10-10 ,,and guess what??? i had not lost a single mayor pot sofar...

i get beaten by 10-10 ,he hits directly a set...then i hit the A-high nutflush,,, next all in..opponent shows full house 88-999 , he had 8-9 as a starting hand ,hits the superflop
next: i get all chips in because superdonk loves to call every hand and every raise...

so i play A-K against 4-8 ofsuit ..and yes he hits again,,,

next i have A-Q suited ,opponent shows K-K ,he hits i hit crap..another 20$ gone to pokerheaven.

bankroll on stargames??? down to zero....had lots of fun at them stargames tables
for 3 days and i have a feeling they decided,,,since i am new and playing 3 days in a row..i had to go broke and deposit...before i can win anything over there....

i am dissapointed...especialy cause all was going extremely well,
and i was about to log out and get back to pokerstars and grind there a bit further,,

Aww crap! Aww crap! Aww crap! Aww crap! Aww crap! Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Disagree Disagree Disagree Disagree Disagree

to be fair everyone has to choose whatever they find works for them- there are as many opinions as poker players- and even any poker player can change his mind on what's better- sng's mtt's or cash games at certain point of his career, so good luck with your decision- hope this works out with you Thumbs Up
