Is the hand before the break cused?  0
Well, as the topic says, is the hand before the break cursed? I'd really like to know why the f*** I ALWAYS lose a big pot or bust out on every single hand I play that will be my last befoe a break. It doesn't matter if I don't play a single hand for 5 minutes before the break or if it's the tables last hand befoe the break, the last hand I play, I always lose, no matter what the hand may be.

Just in the last hour, I've lost with AA with A on the flop and with AQ with QQ on the flop.

Does anyone else have this problem or am I perhaps the most unlucky person ever?

It happend to me once or twice but again i'm not an mtt or sng player so i can't say if this is happening all the time...

Still if you play mtt all the day then my simple advice would be to fold that hand and you are okay Smile

I feel the same Big Smile Big Smile. Do you hope always win ? If you aware you will have some losing hand, don't care about how you lose, to keep you are not on tilt and in good condition for next game. Good luck in next

If you notice something happening you will focus on it and it can be hard to break the routine, even if it doesnt really happen all that often. I have noticed that more often than not if im all in against a bigger stack, i will get done by a 6 on the river!

Nothing to consistent and if I were having that type of luck I deeply consider playing two hands before the break. I know that's unpredictable as to when the break will come and I don't have an answer so sorry and I hope your luck changes.

It happens...the best solution is not to play any hand before the break.... Big Smile

Fold aces pre ftw. All seriousness though, no, the "last hand before break" isn't cursed, it's just coincidence/bad luck/variance etc. If it was, it'd lend some credibility towards the "rigged" theory people can't seem to let go of.

For me, the funny thing is that online I have no problem with the last hand before the break, but live is a different matter. I attribute that to two things:

1. When you are playing your hand and everybody in the tables around you is getting up for the break your focus and the focus of the others in that hand is suddenly not the same. More people are watching the hand being played out and machismo starts to get in the way, people make hero calls and such, crack your aces with 4-5s.

2. If you have become a very short stack sometimes the temptation to try and double up or go home before the break is very strong, and you will push with cards you shouldn't and... BABOOOM! Out you go.

So online no, but live I dread the hand before the break, and as a result will often fold more quickly than I should.

players online ,think u want to steal the hand ,just last hand before break, so they will call u in many cases,,,especialy i they have u covered in stacksize...

Be carefull, or just don't play..let other bust out..just before the break....

the hand right after the break..is also same situation...people ,make a coffee,,,get back from break and go all inn with crappy hands...they are out off the zone....the break or the coffee affected them...

so extra focus is required in these stages of the game..

well good luck to ya'll

And i agree ,if u are too aggresive against the big stack at the table..no mather what u hold...

the flop ,turn or river will be in his favour ,and u bust out...

a situation ,where i play also more cautious...don't know if that's best play ,but have had too many bad exp. with this...so approach is a bit diff. nowadays..

for instance...u hold K-K ,and go all inn preflop against chipleader,,,on pokerstars this means

certain death for u ,in most cases ,, Confused

I never noticed big problems at that time, but most often the break comes when i am not expecting it (at least the first one). About the bubble hand, that’s the one that worries me, sometimes i really get some tension with it, even when i am better ranked. Looks like it can happen to me being the one who’s not going to receive a prize after so much time, and it already happened so many times that now i am always affraid, even if i’m top 20 and the bubble’s for the 50th. It’s got to do with our experience at the game, i think. If we are affraid, it’s good, it’s a sign we know the importance of it, although everything that is in excess is bad.

For every player that loses a big pot on the hand before the break there is a player winning a big pot. I'm sure it doesn't seem cursed from that players perspective.

Havent had such experiences.
Have lost couple of times before the break, but i guess it wasnt anything important,
so that i could pay attention and start keeping statistics Smile
