With this being the quarter finals (I guess, since I do to not understanding their championship stages) the U.S. will be covering this on ESPN so I decided to do a little research on past games between England & Italy. I took England but won't place a score or who I picked to make the first goal, but this is the first time I ever bet on any of the games. I think I'll even watch some of it although I'm a big NASCAR fan and the race will be on about tyhe same time. [ izza] &

I think England will go ahead because Italy has not shown much in the Euro finals in Ukraine and will be disputed between Germany and Spain ...

It's spaghetti against sunday roast.
Carling against Peroni.
Rover against Ferrari.
........
Ok never mind that - if I was to give a team a slight edge it would be the Italians. Their defence is brilliant and organised, they held Spain to a 1-1. The midfield looks good, they can keep the ball.
They lack power and pace though which is where the Engerlish might take advanatge but England have to be able to keep possesion or they are out.
This could be a tight one, really tight.
England just lack quality but they seem to have a lot of team spirit this time round....I'm gonna sit on the fence and say extra time.

Italy deserved to go through.
Biggest balls of the year go to Andrea Pirlo - that chipped penalty was ridiculous - the QF of a tournament and he does that!! Amazing, the guy is one of the players of the tournament, his ball retention and passing is better even than Xavi/ Iniesta imo.

yeah well done italy, defo deserved the win. half the england team didnt even turn up tonight. the only person who was causing a problem was welbeck and he got took off. i think rooney should of come off for carroll, he done nothing again and looked nackered 10mins into second half.
young smashing the bar just summed up his tournament, chamberlin should of replaced him at half time. he was like a lost sheep not knowing what to do or where to go.
good luck in the next round italy, i hope you beat the gerries (cant see it tho)

Summed it up well.
Young has been hopeless the whole tournament - the Ox should have defo been given a game but then there wasn't many options with rooney tiring etc.
Rooney looked like a bloated pig out there - you could tell he's carrying extra pounds and isn't at all tournament ready. Caroll came on and played awesome - held the ball up, won it, controlled it. Best performance I've seen from him.
Gerrard cramping on 70 mins - wtf? Thats such bad fitness. 110mins into ET fair enough. Having said that he carried them this far.
England just look hopeless in midfield - Germany, Spain, Italy all have vastly superior ball retention and attacking in that department.
Young - awful. Parker - diligent and hard working. Gerrard - heart of the team but that's his last tournament surely. Milner - just can't see why he's a certain starter, he's solid I guess but he doesn't do anything, much like Barry.
Theo and Oxlade at least look like they have potential to be starters (especially Ox).
The future isn't looking great though - the striker department is piss poor too - Rooney is a liability most of the time. Caroll has his uses but there's not a striker that puts any fear into opposition defences.

As i said English Fellas your team wasnt good enough for Italy, i got surprised the game ended in the penaltys. England have 4 great players, (rooney world class player), bu8t the rest of the team is mediocre. Its not surprising me that the 2 stronghest groups have all teams in the semi finals. Putting Poland and Ukraine in head of the series, fucked up all the Euro!
