Hollywood Poker closes down  0
Another one bites the dust. Hollywood Poker has closed down its poker room, and transfered its players to Red Kings Poker, also on the Ongame network.

Yes. Both are Ongame poker rooms.
At the moment Ongame is one of the bigger networks, but the main room bwin has joined forces with Party, and will most likely form a single poker room with them. What will happen to the rest of the Ongame network is unclear. I wouldn't open an account there at the moment.

Another one! Anybody has to be Nostradamus to realize that poker online is dying. Crisis, taxes and governments are killing online poker little by little. Aww crap!

I don't necessarily think that's the case. These smaller rooms really have little to nothing to do with the government. Poor advertising, terrible software, crappy incentives etc are their death. Look at High Pulse for example. A lot of these rooms come and go, but without the proper investment they'll never succeed. The market is just far to competitive.

While these small sites die off, it just makes people appreciate the bigger ones. Big ones like Poker Stars and Party poker will keep on trucking, short of government interference.

Online poker will never die, but it's changing. For the better? Who knows? We'll only know when regulation settles in.

Online poker took two major hits lately, first was of course black friday and now the fact that Spain players aren't allowed to play on every site...

So it was clear that many small poker platforms will close and only the big ones will remain.

You can never say online poker never die because the world on the internet changes very fast. Do you remember Napster, megaupload, ...? When the government notice they are losing money they react. Let's see what happen but I'm not too optimistic

Dont think I had ever heard of that site. MAybe it is to do with marketing and also the opposition from the big boys like PS etc. Its a hard market to get into. Maybe rather than all sites dying we may see an element of plateauing and stabilisation across the markets and not see any new attempts to set up sites anymore, just remain with the bigger established sites.

never heard of it,was it any good? i guess not if they are closing it down.

i suppose it's just too hard to attract new players away from the big sites,eh.

So do you know anything about this Red Kings Poker? Justcurious since there's not a lot of opportunity out there for U.S. citizens to play and thought if you had any positive input I might give them a try.

[ Tongueoker] is a big Tease anymore!

I remember to play at this room, with the spades symbol. It had some nice steps SnGs starting from a ticket on a freeroll or at a free 10 player SnG and then you just had to win 6 in a row to get $10, but after the first, you were already playing in SnGs against players who could pay to enter the same SnG, the 2nd was $0,06, then $0,12, and $0,25, $0,50… But if you happen to finish one of them in the 2nd place instead of winning it, you would have to start it all over again. A way for rookies to understand the difficulties of climibing the stairs of poker to become a good player with profitable result.

Yep, there are some major changes ahead. As i said earlier, The future of the Ongame network minus bwin is unsure. At another front Ipoker is splitting its network in two parts. One with the big rooms, and one with the rooms with a shark playerbase.
