Play poker everyday, is winning way ?  0
Hi all, I need your sharing to make me better in poker ( I hope so ).
I play poker everyday, at least 3 hour a day. And I start thinking, that's not good way to improve my skill , make my up and down - the down more than up, lol. at other side I know endurance need to be trained as well.

So, I hope your sharing can help me to make choice, what is the first I have to do.

Thanks

If your a winning player then the more you play the more profit/ the more rakeback so yes.
If your a losing player........ Tongue

When i was grinding i played like 5h upto 8h a day, my winrate was exactly the same it didnt matter how many hours so for me it was just a fact the more hours the more money.

not sure the extra hours of playing is making you a better player- it's how you approach the game what matters- you might just play a few hundreds more hands and learn nothing, or you might analyze the hands, opponents, situations and this is what counts imho, good luck at the tables

play poker every day is winning way..

i dont think so. a break is always usefull, to think about your play.
its just like with injured athlets. often, when they come back, they are even better than before (especially mental). they analyzed them self, their mistakes, their stenght and so on..

Yes exactly.

Sometimes my head feels like porridge after i have been grinding for several days on end - its time for a break.

The brain needs stimulation other than poker to keep it working.

Also if you wake up and feel like s**t, don't play. You will often play how you feel.

I learned recently not to play day in day out because it became like a chore, a necesity - and those session tended to be marginally +$ or losing sessions. Simply my head wasn't in it.

Read away from the lap top - it stimulates a different part of the brain but continues your poker evolution.

I miss the option "I play nothing because the government of my country wants me to pay a lot of taxes". In that case, I would vote this one. Aww crap! I remember when I used to play 2 hours everyday and more time in weekends.

Basically i play every day but from time to time i feel to need to take a pause especially when i start a downswing or if i simply feel bored of poker...

But other than that i play poker everyday and it works pretty good Big Smile

The truth is, I play most every day after work for at least 2 hours. I have days that aren't worth poop so I don't progress up in the amount I buyin.
By this I usually start at at $1.10 and if I don't do well then the biggest buyin for me that day is, $1.10, maybe $2.20. If I'm donig well at the $1.10, I move up. Of course I never go above an $11.00 buyin since I'm here for fun, not a living. It would be nice to think I could play that well, but not soon in my world. For now, I work for a living and like I said, play poker for fun, but to win, not give my money away. LOL

on average, I play a LOT more than 3hrs a day - but I dont play everyday - I also work and study (and sometimes even see IRL people! oMG!)

However - the days i do play, as an MTT player - I generally on average register in around 8-15 games and will play for around 12hrs in a sitting,

In regards to an hourly rate - you gotta be playing pretty high stakes to be making it worth your while in terms of money (as opposed to a fun hobby)

for example- I have an ROI generally around 80% for MTT, on average I buy into about $300 worth of mtt each day I play - so on an average day of playing my profit will be $300 * .8 = $240

Which is decent - however, for 12hrs thats about $20 an hour, my actual IRL job pays more than that Blink

------------
although. if i add rake-back, bonuses and VIP stuff, it probably works out to a pretty similar hourly rate to my day job

I play every day...shud say nite to be more correct...I'm a nite person. I realized (for myself) at micro stakes I couldn't clear a bonus playing NLHE so I switched to PLO and just cleared my first bonus ever and beat PLO/02. It's not a monster feat, see it as a step in the right direction. Playing NLHE doesn't justify the time I have to spend trying to win enough just to stay even, if I'm lucky. Usually I go broke from the beats and the hours of junk hands. I play 6-10 hour sessions and up to 3 sites at a time. Don't play when I'm tired...have scrambled eggs for brains at that point and don't play much in the daylite either, that's when my concentration level is lowest. Been playing PLO hi/lo freerolls on Stars as well and earned 5 of 8 tickets to the 2k's. Guess the point is we're all different and what works for one may not work for another. Took awhile to figure what works for me, now I enjoy playing again...came very close to quiting altogether.

I play everyday.....I mean at night. Usually 2 to 3 hours....if I lost 3 buy ins...I stop because learning when to stop is also equally important....if winning I can play up to usually up to 6 hours but I'm already starting to get tired at this stage and I usually stop when a suck out or a bad play that I did in a hand....

If you dont get tilted or something then it doesnt matter at all if you lose 3 buy ins,10 buy ins or 20 buy ins in a session, just play until you notice your game suffers from the beats Blink

I myself play almost every day. How much depends on if its a school day,how long I was outside for (I try to do something with friends at least every couple of days, because having a social life as balance is always important, especially for high volume players).
So it really depends. On a normal school day and going out till evening afterwards I average about 50-60 SNGs which takes me about 2-2.5 hours.
On a lazy weekend day however where I dont feel like doing anything else than playing poker I often play about 200+ SNGs with a few MTTs mixed in on that given day,so my total play time at these days is about 10 hours or so.
I usually play sets of 2-3 hours each and then have a small break, then pulling up the tables again Smile

I don’t play every day, and I don’t win every day I play. But I think you are wrong about your way of seeing things. Don’t try to invent the wheel again: look at a normal job. How does it work? With routines, repetitions, like in Fordism. Routine tend to turn you better at what you are used to do, because you will first learn with your mistakes and then you will be able to apply the knowledge when the opportunity to do it appears. That improvement, in successful cases (we won’t all turn into good poker players with profits just for applying this) will make your poker graph reach a marginal value and will tend to stay there if you keep doing the same for a long period of time.

Oh yeah about winning every day etc.
It all depends on the long term. You just cant win every day,it's simply not possible.
So I myself review winnings/losses on monthly basis (or sometimes weekly if I played a high volume week of 1000+ SNGs).
It can happen that I'm dropping 40 BIs on a given day, obv. that's something that hurts a little, even if you know it's a standard swing, but its nothing that should keep you from playing. If you're a winning player sooner or later you will grind back all the money you lost during a downswing

Yeeeeah!!! Play poker every day at every opportinity. The only reason i dont is called family and work. If I could kick both out I could play poker all day every day. I really have to ponder this one after a few glasses of glorious red wine...but yes...poker is King!!!!!!

200 SNG's?!

whoa - how the hell do you play that many in such a short time? don't you run out of time to play your hands?
