Played a nice tourney yesterday evening at Stars  0
10K guarantued Turbo, $2,20 buy in.
Player field: 5617

Had early a nice start, then almost carddead, but getting some chips here and then to stay alive.
So I stayed in it, made the buble (place 810) and was around place 200 at that time.
Then carddead again, around 400/500 doubled up and was in top 100 from around 400.
To make it short: I got under top 100 and made it further to the last 2 tables.
Was 10/15 when I shoved 55 (from middle position) and the guy in BB (medium stack, some more chips than me) called it with KJo. (Me personally would not have called in his situation)
He hit K on flop and on river…
So I busted out and got $50.
Guess I should have had some more patience and it would have been possible to make it to FT.

Nevertheless it was nice to make it this far.

If he was in the BB and it was on him to call with no one else in the pot, I'd call. He's got to come into some sort of confrontation eventually this is probably the safest spot he will get, with you having to shove borderline hands. Of course he would know your range. 55 is a decent hand to be shoving a short stack from the button or SB with nobody else in the pot. But from middle position its on a knife edge really. Yeah you where unlucky, but as you said you should have had more patience if you wanted to make the final table. I should also note at this stage medium stacks get pushed around, and maybe this ran through his mind, and led him to not put you on such a hand.

Congratz, $2,20 for $50 is good enough.

Guess I should have had some more patience and it would have been possible to make it to FT.

I am not clear enough how many chips did you have ? if less than 10 BB is good move for me, If you had more...yes, you should be more patient. Good luck in next Smile

I think you did good. Although it wasn’t a very good hand, if you haven’t entered this hand, you could probably pass through another face of almost carddead. You told us you pass through this two times in your game before, so maybe you could have gone for another one, but what if nothing good hits you? One or two places higher in the rank would already make a big difference in the prize, or was it still the same $50? It was a very nice budget already, for a $2,20 investment. Congrats!

nice return on your $2.20,getting $50 is very good imo, when was the next step up in pay out?
i mean if you were near it maybe you would have been better off waiting for a better spot to get them in.

Thanks for all your feedback.
To be a little bit more precise:
- I had around 480k in chips with blinds at 25/50k
- The guy sitting at BB had somewhat around 600k in chips
- place 13-15 was $49,99, place 10-12 was around $67
- last place at FT was above $100
- 5th place (and above) would have been nice for $477 +
- first was above $ 1600

If you dont take risks sometimes you cant get further away.
Others work others not.
You got unlucky there but at least you finished i a good position with
a nice profit. Well done

Well done and nice ROI. You showed loads of patience througha quiet period. The issue about your opponent calling with his KJo in BB is probably a good call on his behalf given what he knows about your stack and position and the fact he already had money in the pot.

A pretty good result if you ask me, i mean you got your investition x 25...

Plus on this large field mtt you need to expect a huge variance in time and as always there is room for improvement Smile

That's still a great came to hang tuff through 5000+ players. Besides the $50 in a couple hours is pretty good wages for having some fun in the process. Congrats and keep chugging!

Superstandard shove,as for the call,it depends on how wide he thinks you are.
Seeing you doubt your shove in this situation you are probably shoving way too tight,in that case the KJ call is probably -EV,but having a dominating stack in his case when winning the hand is also very valuable, especially for FT play, but yeah,vs. someone shoving too tight the KJ call is -EV there

Congrats.
Nice run, and i would have shoved too with 55. You just got unlucky, but still a nice run and a nice payment. Smile

Thanks for all your grats and especially for your comments regarding the last hand.
Well, it seems there are different opinions regardings this shove I made.
So I am still not definetely sure about, if I was wrong or right Smile

It's a super super easy fistpump shove, even 22 would be a super easy shove,no need to doubt on your play
