This is why Phile ivey is the man.  +2

Seriously, it's amazing watching how they play their hands out. At that level, the cards don't even freaking matter, they play on a level 99% of us will likely never achieve.

So sick how Phil Ivey simply outplays Antonius with pure air in this spot. Guaranteed, if this was the micros, chips woulda been in the middle pre-flop probably lol.

Great video indeed, iguess if they played tight at the table and made a good image there is really no reason not to bluff with some crap cards from beginning to the end Big Smile

And yes, after bankroll management the most important thing in poker is definately position!

Yes great vid, i allways find it crazy this vid isnt so famous, its one of the best.
Not for micros, but for middle/high stakes players this is such a great vid which sums it up best.
Its all about the story-line you tell in a hand.

And what story does that limp-call-call-bet line tell?
I guess Dwan doesn't liked his folding any more, when the 2 spiked at the river.

Well ... Phil Ivey is a good player but for me he is not a myth. I've watched similar hands, playing strong with position too many times.
In order to take Phil Ivey back to the earth, I would like to remind you one of the most embarassing Ivey's hands.

Damessiah --> I agree that Ivey is probably not the best out there but he's definetly top 5. Missreading your hand happens live when you're too focused on other stuff going on in the hand. Of course we don't see pros do it so often because they usually take a lot of time to think at each betting round and usually look at their hands a couple of times.

I've seen antonius call a bluff with Q high before, he has great instincts. I would've been very tempted to call too but the way Ivey played it it looked like he either had an ace or complete air. Anyways, even if your call is good with Q high, it's not something you wanna think about doing too often Big Smile But in this spot, I understand why Antonius considered it.

That's the thing! At the lower levels, besides playing electronic poker being the other benifactor here an individual couldn't come close to this type of a bluff or do we even call it a bluff at the level Ivey and Antonius are at. It's just like it appears "Out Play" the other.

I wonder how long they think back to such hands or when they get to see the hands on television or internet what they think about their decisions.

He is a very good player, most of the times i have watched a tv show that
he was in, playing, he was in the lead with chips.
He is no doubt one of the best players out there, but somehow i dont like him at all,
something on him pisses me off Smile

For me if an opponent calls my raises scare me more then if he reraise my raises, a stone hard call-bet at different streets with a valuebet at the end in position is hard imo.

Yeah for sure. If someone reraises it usually means they think they are ahead and are trying to narrow down what my hand is.

When I raise thinking I have the best hand, they call, and this happens again, it's so hard to fire a third bullet even if they are behind.

As for Phil's mucked hand - I think everyones done that at some point, mucked a flush thinking they had a different suit.

He must have thought he had 8clubs or soemthing. Brain farts happen to the best of us. I love his look of utter disgust at losing the pot, like what the hell was the other guy doing and thenchucks his cards in the muck.
