A new site just launched, called skillbet, which is allowing US players in 28 states to play real money poker. Yes that's right, real money poker for US players.
Before you get too excited, it's not "real" poker in a true sense. Basically you and 1 other player are dealt the exact same hand at 2 different tables, and you each compete against bots, not each other. Basically you both play the same hand against bots, and whoever "wins" or does better in the hand gets the winnings. I haven't checked it out personally, I just ran into a post on reddit talking about this. The concept seems kinda cheesy to me, but for any Americans looking for a poker fix, this might be the best you'll legally get until legislation is passed.
As silly as it seems, I also think this format may be highly beatable, if you can figure out the bots tendencies and are well versed in calculating odds, as if you've got a head for math, you'll have a huge advantage over someone who loves to play loose and chase draws.
this is good news for US players...the format id quite different...but good players can fine ways how to beat this kind of "poker game"...against a bot.... i understand that bot are not allowed in poker rooms... ....this is a house bot?

Looks like a new version of Duplicate Poker to me. That one wasn't long lasting. But maybe the American players are desperate enough to make it a winner this time.

It has some similarities, but it is different. It's getting a mixed-response on 2+2.
It's interesting enough to possibly work and there has got to be a pretty hungry USA market just waiting on something legal. For every USA player on an illegal site, I bet there's at least 20 that aren't willing to play online atm.

well spotted- i also was interested in duplicate poker, or the format itself, but after playing a few tourneys (with the free no deposit bonus) i found that the format sucks, too slow, too unpopular and too small traffic to make it worthwhile...not sure how this venture is gonna do, but i guess it's gonna go down sooner or later

First thing that came up to me of course was the Duplicate Poker. Didnt like it at all. Even if it has differences as you say with Duplicate i doubt it will last long. Even in US were players have limited options.

It’s like puting two persons playing the same game in the same conditions against the computer and whoever does better takes the prize. It’s a new game for me, and it doesn’t seem as fair and honest and free as the normal one. If we lose against the bot, we can never recover from it, and it has the advantage of having all the system on its side. Seems like online casinopoker to me.
....this is a house bot?
