Sets to higher Sets, Flush to higher flush, KK to AA, AA to KK (F**k!), Trip Aces to retard who called against ridiculous odds to catch his hand. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Having the worst down streak of my life, and starting to wonder what kind of variance is usual in cash games?

Always depends on your kind of Edge vs. the opposition but losing 40 buy ins isnt uncommon unless your winrate is 5BB/100 or higher... Just keep grinding

variance depends from your skill, your opponents skill, your type of play- the more aggressive you are the bigger swings your bankroll will have to handle. luck is also a factor- sometimes you will be on the losing side whatever you do- i believe in cash games you should have 50-100 buyins at your limit, and when you suffer major downswing you should lower your limits

You'll find a lot of variance when playing with the Fish and Donks I've encountered since playing electronic poker.
We all have the poop down swings that seem undoubtedly scandalous, but there's the hands that just beat you down to believing this isn't happening. Things will turn around for you and you'll be rolling again!

i hate variance! you can expect it alot at lower limits. when i used to go on a downswing i would give poker a break for 2 or 3 days as slight downswings would affect my game so much that the downswing lasted alot longer.
if your downswing is affecting your game then i would suggest a break. if its not affecting your game that much then you should just tighten up your range quite alot.

FFS!!!!! KK looses to set mine 666 (Fitting) and Over pair Pocket tens looses pocket sevens on runner runner straight. I took a break all day and this is the crap I come back too.
40 Buyins Macuubas!? Damn, I guess I feel better knowing it's not unusual but it sucks knowing that I may be in a run for it yet. Only down 10 - 15 buyins.
Happens to me last few weeks, thats why im moving away from cash games....full house beat by a higher full house..Aces beat by straight,2 pair or flush....sometimes i played in SNG and i couldnt win hand even if my cards dominates my opponents like AK vs AJ,A10 but still lose.... qq vs A8 lose again...jj vs 99 lose again... AQ vs 92 lose again. and so on ....i cant remember them all.... ...That is poker i think because of fish and donks...where are going to get our winnings?from solid players?I think not....fish can win one or two pots with a really good suckout but later on fish money will still go to solid players in the long run....thats for sure....

Ring games are still worth it though if you can afford the down Aya. I've made lots of rake and I'm getting great Rake back so I'm still up over all, just lost more than I'm used to in a row. Actually starting to bounce back a bit the last two days .

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
I know the feeling.
Its downright nasty when s**t like that starts to happen.
10-15 buyins seems like a huge drop but really isn't overall.

Yeah Macuubas put me into perspective on that. I guess I have no reason to be complaining, compared to a lot of players on here I've barely experienced varience, lol. It felt good to vent though and to know I'm not alone.

Alot of worse stuff than that (in terms of buy ins) can happen in SNGs and MTTs tho.. I've had several 100+ buy in down swings in all different formats of SNGs so far,let alone MTTs (think I dropped about 300 times my avg. buy in before I had a nice $3K bink in january)
