Over the months i learned that you nee to wait for an official announcement from pokerstars in order to believe it...

Still, it would really be great news for all if indeed FTP will open once again Smile

first of all lets wait for the official announcement- second: i want my $0.23 back Big Smile , i really miss full tilt- they had a great room with lots of unique promotions, eye catching software and lots of traffic- great combinations isn't it? really it's a great shame that some people busted the site, fcuk them Spank

Read the news, not something i was anticipated to see or read about,
since i stopped wondering about, just a bit curious.
And as expected its more air talk on the subject.

Just putting some leaves on the fire, to keep it burning Smile

Would be nice.
But apparently "Ceasar's", who controls most of the US gambling market, is trying to block Pokerstars/Full Tilt from coming back. This would cost them Billions.

It's pretty clear nothing would happen over the summer, trafic is low, and no time for a re-launch. Hopefully, the rumour is true, and maybe october/november we will get some really good news. Had pretty much given up on it, and don't want to get my hopes up again.
So I'll wait and see either way.

Why wouldn't it happen during the summer? The reality is, if PS does in fact buy FT, then it comes down to what they will do with it:

A) Just payout players and shut down the site. Doubt this would happen, because they know how much value there is in the software. I doubt they'd invest so much money, just to "look good" in the media. Perhaps they'd do so as a bargining chip to get positioning once US regulation sets in, but realistically there's still too many variables in that. From a business standpoint, it makes sense for them to just run FT, at least in the short term.

B) They buy the software, immediately re-open the site and honor any cashouts requested. This is pretty much their best option, because they will then control the two biggest sites. Perhaps down the road they'd look at merging the networks, kind of like smaller skin sites do. They won't do themselves any harm by running each site independantly, because they'll still hold something like 90% of online poker traffic. Who cares wether it's at stars alone, or spread out between the 2 sites.

If they do decide to keep it open, they've got to expect that players will be a little aprehensive at first. They can't expect players to just flock back, en mass, and start immediately playing. Sure traffic is slow now, due to vacations and what not, but why not get a head start? That way everything has been set up, and they are ready for the eventual traffic that will return. This would also give them time to setup a huge marketing push/bonuses etc, to lure players back to FT.

I just had an additional thought. If regulation was to pass, It's hard to say what they would do with the 2 sites. Likely they'd have to license each site independently, so if this were the case, it WOULD make sense to abandon 1 of the platforms, and just merge the networks. It's really up in the air which platform they would go with, since each platform has it's pros and cons, as well as it's own fan base.

My biggest concern, and it seems a lot of people share the same concern, is what would happen to bonuses. Since everyone knows FT was a LOT more generous in pretty much every way, from rake, bonus system and freerolls, I can honestly say that if FT came back, there'd be immediate and drastic changes at least in that aspect, likely for the worse.

Ive seen that here along with other posts all over the net, regarding the poker
software.
And my question is, really how much a poker software cost?
Cause ive seen a lot of talks about buying the software etc.

Like no one can copy their software exactly like it was.

There's a lot of value in PS buying FTP in multiple ways:

1) By buying out FT, they now control the majority of the online poker traffic. If FT had been bought out by Tapie, or some other firm, PS would have had competition. Remember, FT was second in the market.

2) FT's software is beloved, and touted as the "best in the market". To this day I have yet to come across a room that was as intuitive and easy to use as FT'S.

3) PS's buying FT is probably the best publicity they could buy. They will gain so much credibility and trust. Plus anyone with money on FT will see PS as their savior.

4) Positioning for regulation. They'll look great in the eyes of the DOJ. Seriously, they will be shipping the DOJ a S**T LOAD of money for this deal, don't think that won't come into play when regulation passes. This ALONE is worth the investment, as the US market constituted a significant portion of network traffic, and PS is eager to get that back.

So in reality, while there's value in the software alone, there's much more they'd stand to gain from the purchase.

Great news, if it comes off. But what worries me is they didnt say 'which' Christmas it would be done by! So once again, interesting read but not holding my breath until my hard earned bankroll with a FTP stamp on it is repaid into my stars or bank account!!!!

+2 Big Smile

I was in love with their software. Playing on FT I felt like I was "at home".
Even made my own "IslandJack" black tables to play on. (modding)

The day (if and when) they reopen, I'll be on the tables with you, locked in behind my PC.
No doubt about that ! Blink

I only asked about software.
The rest you are mentioning is not hard to figure out.

Many emphasizing on the software, when are talking about
someone buying the FT, thats why i asked.

I liked my self that software the best, but i dont think its something that you would
invest hundreds of millions to get.
Its an addition yes, but alone its useless.

Who cant make the exact software like FT, with same functions etc.
(ones that have knowledge on the subject)

I just hope that this is real, if not a lot of people who expect FT to come back are going to be disappointed, i cant find one poker site that even compares to PS other than FT

It looks like it is official. Poker Stars deal with getting FTP. Let the games begin lol. Umm hope BRM will add FTP when it is up and running Smile.
