Just watched "The big game" poker show for the first time tonight. Apparently it's party pokers show. I have to say, it's easily the absolutely WORST poker show I have ever seen. When Jennifer Tilly is the best player at the table, you KNOW you're in for a horrible show.
Seriously, I've never seen so many nobodies at one table. I didn't recognize a single name, aside from Tilly. The announcers had NO clue what they were talking about, and kept misusing simple terms like "floating" and "squeeze play" and I swear at one point they said "limping 87 utg" is a smart move.
The players themselves were terrible. So many 5 handed flops, and players limping/raising with trash like q5. Seriously, I can't believe anyone thought this show was a good idea.

Never watched it, it’s not available at portuguese televised cable poker channels. I think i’ll have to look for it at the net, but after Reading your comment about it, i really don’t have much apetite for doing it. Perhaps one day when i’m bored. I hope at least it can make me laugh!

The one I've seen was good, it had good players on, and a noob who gets staked 100k. It had hellmuth, negreanu, laak, haxton.....loads of good players. Is this the same one? Is it the same format? The one I watched also had some funny commentator on who'd say funny little nicknames for people aswell. Also on the break he'd do this big "see you soon on the...big....game" in his texan accent trying to sound cool and dramatic at the same time. This one was deffo sponsored by stars though.

I believe you are talking about PokerStars the big game. where they offer an online qualifier the chance to play against the pros with 100k of PS money, anything over their original 100k is their to keep. they play 150 hands for the weeks worth of episodes. these can be watched at pokerstars.tv
BUT
here's what i think Party is doing. They broadcast this bad poker so that bad players say "OMG, I play exactly like the pros at this table. then they see its a party poker even and the fish start swinging to their site.
i watch the big game by pokerstars and i think its good...they have a loose cannon that qualifies online and then he plays with negranue and others..its a very interesting game...

Its been sometime here that i last saw a recorded televised poker game. A small channel used to show games from Party Poker and its true, that in comparison with the ones from Poker stars, most players were unknown.

aye i watched one where a bus driver doubled up with 5 hands to play against peter jetten. "bobby the bus" as he was called won $180,ooo and a ticket to the napt, not bad at all. oh he had aces against jettens kings.
If you're talking about that old british show, then yeah I've seen it. First of all this is live poker, you can't just wait for good starting hands all the time cash games. They mix their game pre flop but post flop they know how to play.
Viffer is playing ultra aggro and usually does it well, and Tilly is far from being the best player at the table. (has she ever been the best at a table? lol She's not bad but she's not good either) If my memory is correct there was Laurence Grondin, Isaac Haxton, Neil Channing. These are solid players. Also I think there was Phil Laak, Tony G and Roland De Wolfe at some point. But maybe we're not talking about the same season.
Have to agree about commentators, they were really bad. The only ones I like are Mike Sexton and Gabe Kaplan. And the guy from pokerstars Joe Stapleton he's hilarious ^^

Can't say I had the opportunity to see it so I could criticize it, but I definitely trust your opinion. Not that I really care, but where did you happen to run across the program. Just curious if I could catch it on the internet or if it actually was on the tube.

You can get anything on the internet if you're an advanced googler This should be on youtube though I'd expect.
