It's time to have a look at last week's results from the High Stakes Poker World (online). Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky was the biggest winner with $575,996, followed by Ilari Sahamies, who came second in the EPT Barcelona main event for €629,700 last Sunday, with a $508,383 profit. Viktor "Isildur1" Blom has been on one hell of a rollercoaster ride since he and PokerStars parted ways about 2 weeks[...]   Read more » High Stakes: Viktor Blom Lost Over a Millon Dollars Last Week!

Can anyone estimate his BR ??

I know we cant see how much he got from sponsors but as far as i know he cant have that much left.

We know he won many millions at FTP but then lost it all and after that got signed by PS.
He has had some succes live and online it was up and down.

You never know what he maybe has lost or won in live cashgames but i dont believe he has to much left as far as i can estimate..

Anyone has any idea what his BR is ...give or take a million Big Smile

I assume at some point he's staked by one of his mates to try to win the money back.. atleast it's what people are saying.
He has been mostly playing games that definitly are not his best.. like stud or pot limit omaha H/L .. and he's playing the highest levels of those games vs the best regs. It's basicly everything one shouldn't do.. it's like he wants to throw his money away or something for amusement.

Galfond just posted on his blog an entry about him.. and he says isildur said he doesn't care about money just for having fun playing and the competition.. i guess it makes sense. He's already getting a hang at the games tho yesterday at the end of the day he had recovered a bit!

HE may not care about the money now...but he will do when he's 35 and playing medium stake cash games because he blew money when he had it.

The only thing that's of consolation is that he knows he can win money back again.

And to compare him to other rich people throwing money away (not even their own) hedge funders and such invest in markets they cannot guarantee returns on and our economies are fucked because of it.

Yeah i believe he will care later on and i think most people do.. it's just the way he is tho.
Some people don't care much and others have just a adiction problem .. both of them are in big trouble!
I would be really curious too to know what was isildur's financial condition before winning money at poker.. somehow that story of the "min deposit" turn into a million little fairytale many online poker tell about them makes me feel very suspicious. A story like Dwan like he deposit a few times until he got in a crazy run and never looked back again besides a few level drops to build up makes alot more sense.
That is kinda relevant aswell to discuss his money disattachment .. if he was already very wealthy it makes sense. On the other hand.. i think people would already know if he was rich before poker so i dunno.

Interetsing point.

I also don't believe he turned one deposit into a milly - there's scant info about his family, but I read he made 5000euros working and used it for poker.

He strikes me as being from a wealthy background but who knows.

Galfond said he desposited $50 that someone gave to him for a bday and never deposited again.

As for Blom's BR - it can't be much.

He has won lots of money but he seems to lose as much, like a slightly better Ilari.

Poker is such a tough thing to master, not because the game is absurdly tough, but because you need amazing discipline and drive to succeed.

Dwan's story was a bit different then what u say and also sounds like a fairytale.
He actually NEVER deposited he claimes...he got a NDB and built his whole BR with that.
I am pretty sure that was Dwan's story.

not sure where blom takes his money from- and that's why it is so hard what sort of bankroll he has- maybe he has wealthy parents/ maybe he is a guru in stock market/forex etc. -in this case his roll is in very good shape- on the other hand, he might be in debt already and doesn't care about money because he has none of it left

just goes to show the sums of money that the top players are playing for, obscene really!!!
he'll probably win it all back again next week Smile

Thats a pretty serious downswing, obviosly there were times in the past when he lost that much or won in a single day...

I still think that Blom has major brm problems that he didn't fixed so far.

He is young and restless and need a lot of discipline to stay on track. After climbing the mountain is no other way than down. The body is asking for more adrenaline and will end up burned..Nothing else to do,just boring all day long.A woman may help him(or a man)

1 million like it is nothing, even if i would be 200 years old i wouldn't earn a million whit my wage of work, 2 ez to think "ah next time i win it it back"typical
thinking off an addict. And he won all that money whit just 1 deposit off 2k,thats what i wrote in an article, the ex PS pro, ruben visser and Joep v/d bijgaart since they PRO off i didnt see them anymore at PS.Verry Wisely of those students, and the other Dutch player, who won Main event Montecarlo,i gues he doesnt play anymore,Peter de korver, they spend the money better then blom,a guy like blom will be never satisfied if its about money, the more people want the more they lose, thats a cold hard fact GG ViC

hehe .. interesting situation. He was playing 5/10 tables or something of PLO vs a known player and he completly crushed the guy in all of them. then he moved to 10/20 and then 25/50.

Now he's playing for like an hour 1k SNG HU .. i've started to focus my game like 80% on that so i'm finding it very interesting to rail!

But this grinding mode of isildur .. something i've never seen him doing.. weird stuff.

PS: now he's playing 2k HU vs olivier busquets. good stuff Big Smile
