If you discovered online poker's dirty secret?  +1
Imagine you somehow uncovered the secret of online poker you never thought would exist. You found irrefutable proof that online poker sites were rigged and that these companies were making millions to the disadvantage of many online players around the world. However, at this point you had made much profit from online poker and had made regular withdrawals that made a nice earner, even though you never cheated or knew you had any advantage. You were just one of the lucky ones for whom rigged poker worked. What would you do?

Ps. This is purely theoretical. I'm not a rigtard.

First I would use it to make my self a nice sum.
I have a fear the exposing would have a huge backswing from those involved, they would have lots of money and think I would end up in some pain.
So I would milk it for a few mill, then let someone with powers know who would then spread the word.

This is very hard to answer honestly since money is the rude of all evil. I mean there's a lot of things that people will do for money and some would do anything. I'm honestly comfortible in stating there are things that I would never do for money no matter what, but if I was raking in some hefty money from some poker site that was rigged, but the rigging leaned my way I would probably have to say I'd be collectin, but acknowledge, if it were ridiculous sums of money there would be a lot of needy people that would also get their share of this money.

There's families in Haiti that do not have homes or healthy living in general. There are children around the world that would love to have food, clothing and the opportunity to succeed at something. I know right or wrong I would be taking, but at the same time giving.

i suppose i would tell all my family and friends so that they could all make some money before it got found out by everyone else,i mean what's the use of having a secret strategy or whatever to win money if you can't share it.

i think i would make the most of it while i could...i would also be making regular withdrawals so as my account doesnt get froze out, actually i might just throw in a bit of blackmail aswell as let my mates know..
but what are the chances of this happening?? i never have any luck...LLF Disagree Disagree Disagree Disagree

is online poker rigged?? Confused

money is defo the root to all evil!!

To be honest - if it was exploitable I would probably exploit it.. at least for a while.. At some point I would spread the word.

what a silly point/question. Just being a member of any online poker forum you would be exposed to all the rigtard theories. And even if you never were - it's still a pretty natural thought to at least cross your mind just from playing.

I really like the way you formulated the question. Once you've discovered the truth, to continue exploiting it, is stealing. There's no two ways about it. Every dollar you make comes out of someone else's pocket, who is most likely not privy to this information.

There is no question in my mind I would stop, and try to do something about it (report to authorities maybe?).

But what to do with the ill-gotten gains, you've acquired already?

That's a difficult ethical question, that judging from the reactions so far may be wasted on us BRM members... It's apparent we value money over integrity.

And when I say "we", I mean all of you greedy bastards, for I am holier than thou! Big Smile

Root of all evil indeed...

^ When it comes to ethics, I do try my best. But I learn't a long time ago that for myself and almost everyone else, there is a huge gap between how you feel about ethical situations and how you actually act.. I do try my best in some areas and in others I know I'm been slack.

From a purely academic / Idealistic point of view I would say I would love to stop exploiting it immediately, return my ill-gotten gains and then set about bringing the cheats down.. But if I am being honest - I would most likely exploit it; if even out of curiosity. for a little while. Then I'd make a few posts and spreading the bad word and that would basically be it.

I'm not saying you wouldn't do the right thing Marqis, but life experience definitely indicates saying something and doing something are very different things, when people are actually put to the test. That's why corruption is so rampant, people almost always make exceptions for themselves, their family and their friends.

If I'm cheating the cheater then it's fair game. This isn't the case here. Once I figured out what was actually going on I'd make one final cashout and bolt...coz if I figured it out then it wouln't be long before the whole scam comes crashing down. I made that money prior to acquiring the truth...if I were to continue then I would be considered as part of the scam, subject to the consequences.
Remove myself from the situation, watch and wait for it to emplode within itself to see who is passing through the rubble.
A simplistic point of view... as any other course of action can place one between a rock and a hard place.
Then, there are the options of turning "bad" money into good. Salvation Army and United Way come to mind and with anonimity as well.

So I haven't benefitted from any advantage I've merely been lucky?

Well in that case there's not a case to be made for playing on to take advantage of the situation.

I'd instantly turn the evidence in and be happy in the knowledge that I'd saved a lot of people from getting shafted by a big company, as usually happens.

Me = people's hero Cool

Hi

Bish Bash Bosh............I would coin it in if I could take advantage and if not, I would try to blackmail the persons involved, say a 1% take from the top.

Of course if neither of this were available to me I would let the world and his wife know about it.

But it isn't true anyway !!!!

GL to you all.................

I play since five years in a lot of pokerrooms and i´m sure that all rooms are rigged. I saw so much unbelievable suckouts and i know only one side of the variance: down. But i play only in the micros and i think in the higher levels are better players and not 3-4 players in every hand.

if i'm making money then why the hell should i stop doing so Confused now if i did find out this dirty secret- and would remain silent, this would make me part criminal in a way, and i would risk to get some jail time i guess, so i would ask online poker operators for a "moral compensation" of a couple of millions to make my sleep a better one Big Smile

Simple answer - money! Dollar Dollar Dollar

And I think, if the online poker was rigged, you know it, and operator know it - your practics to take advantage of this will be fast blocked by them...

This is the rule of the world - if you know too much, you must be blocked or killed Big Smile

Spread the word, and do somethin to take down those sites legal. I mean just posting the news everywhere on every poker forum... But i think the people will just think i am crazy or just one tupid fish haha.

On the one hand you could keep quiet and live the criminal life of an international playa/pimp/gangsta Mobster

But commit major injustice.

On the other hand you could do the 'right' thing and tell people and possibly be martyred.

It all comes down to is there a good and bad and if there is, does it even matter in the end? Will you even be heard in the infinite vacuum of time and space.

I personally would do the right thing even if it meant dying to be heard.
