Choosing an MTT  0
I'd like to know if other mobsters are particularly choosey about which mtt they enter. Do you enter the first mtt you see in the lobby that matches your preferred buy-in or do you ever do what I do which is take 10 minutes deliberating whether or not to enter a tourney. I very rarely enter an mtt until it is about to begin, which means I often miss the tourney completely and regret it.

I like to know roughly how many people will be in the mtt before it starts, especially if its a gtd pot. Any added money in the pot or knowing that there is less rake collected makes me want to enter even if the pot is small. I figure it makes the tourney more +ev if there are less people although I may be sacrificing more by playing the wrong tourney than what I gain from having ten less people than pot total. I do think though that the rake is an important factor. I never liked buying into a $1+.2 mtt so would play $3+.3. It must be harder to break even if more of your money is going to rake.

I also tend to concentrate more on prize structure than tourney structure so I will happily play a turbo if it has a nice first place or a massive rebuy if the gtd pot is tempting. So when you look in the lobby for mtts do you look for buy-in and not even consider the structure or do do you widen your buy-in range so you can play the tourneys you are best at? Do you prefer to play small fields or large fields and will you pick an mtt based on anything other than which mtt is starting soonest?

A lot of questions I know but I'm genuinely intrigued.

It depends on your taste, only you can decide what tournament you find attractive and what not.
I myself find Turbo gtd rebuy tournaments alot of fun, preferebly with alot of player and low buy in.
But i don't have any problem signing up to a gtd with no rebuy and a bit higher stake either.

I'd say (if you are unsure of what you want to play) try every tournament structure(short-handed,gtd,rebuy,slow blinds, fastblinds)
til you find the tournament you find suiting!

Occasionally I enter a specific tournament, like today for example (Sunday day time) - I choose to just enter a single deep stacked $20 BI 6max event, so i can lounge about on the couch all day, watching TV and not having to focus much on just a single table..

But generally speaking, I'll just register in EVERY single MTT within a certain buyin range, generally for about a 4hr starting time period. Although I'll generally set my alarm to wake at around 3am-5am depending on the start time of certain (usually bigger) tourneys, but I'l enter in everything else around those too.

I don't know about MTT's since I don't play them and never have even been in one. Wouldn't mind learning a bit more about playing in them, but as for other games like tournaments and even SnG's I usually scroll through and think about which one or two I plan on playing in.

sorry to go off topic from MTT's and I could see where there's so much more to evaluate with them so there's definitely more options.

Back in the day i used to play only tournaments i didn't checked so many aspects of the game, the only rules that i applied was to always respect bankroll management and also to choose the type of tournament that suits me best...

I know there are players that do a lot more research before registering but i do not think it's that useful like for example table selection on cash games where it's crucial!
