I have no problems with your lines, 7handed, enter the hand with a raise is good.
You hoped for a check on the turn but he did 2nd barrel.
Well played imho.

You did well in going to see the river, after all you were inside straight draw. I don't give that much importance to the top pair you had because it was a short one. If a figure came out to the table you would be instant covered. Your opponent didn't pushed too much for you, he could even have been behind, but since he comanded the hand from the begining, and the table was doubled twice, you did well in folding.

P.S. After getting so long and watching only low cards at the table, i probably would have called him to see his hand, knowing that i was probably just giving more money to my opponent. It would be wrong but i would feel more confortable in knowing why did i lost. It's this attitude that ruins most of my game, that's why i manage better in tourneys than in ring. Confused

I think this would entirely depend on the type of opponent.

Against most players (e.g. TAG), I would have done the same (perhaps 3-bet the flop, to take back the initiative? If he 4-bets, or still bets the turn, I'd fold).

Against a LAG, I would call the river with top pair. You are getting good odds to call 3:1. Against a LAG you a going to have the best hand more often than that (he probably has missed his draw).

Also, why call the turn, if you're not calling the river; did you feel the river card changed your evaluation of where you stand, or was it his continuation bet?

Guess I would have folded preflop that hand, but thats an other question.
Nevertheless, as you continued the hand is ok in my mind.
If you have special reads on the oppnent - like marqis wrote - it can maybe played different.

I would probably take the same line tbh - it is one of those had to be there situations (lag) (tag) or just plain ole two "ears and a tail" --

Agreed also you called the turn CR what scared you about the river if he was betting a open straight it handn't come! if he hit straight on flop u were calling dead but you were folding 3-1 on 100-1 chance he had!! or even a flopped low set in either scenario if i was big blind i would probably have check. re-raised the agressor on my blind on flop and re assesed flush draw situation on turn. If you were on BB and you had hit full house river would you not CB river and see if you get re raised by a larger stack who bet on you blind and called down your C Raises.

calling down like you had my curiousity would force me to call river

who do you mean ?

I personally here would close it down on the turn having hit my straight and leave BB to decide if he wanted to call his hand to the river
