The final numbers are in for the WSOPE Main Event and they are significantly down from last year. On a more positive note, we have an absolutely stacked field still remaining to fight it out for that seven-figure first prize. 420 players in total - 205 runners bought in for Day 1b, bringing the total to 420 - a massive drop compared to last year's 593. The total prize pool is €4,032,000, with 48 places getting paid and a first prize of €1,022,376.

HI Sorin. Quantity does not mean quality and the first prize would be enough for me to survive on for a couple of months - GL to all those taking part!!!!

We are talking about a third shorter field than in 2011, I haven’t thought about that, but probably it has something to be with the financial crisis the Europe is still living. I know most of the pro players don’t have money problems in order to go for this type of events, but perhaps those dozens of business men who always enter at it had preferred to no joining it this year. Does anyone happen to know if there’s any place where we can find the number of players that entered this main event with a satellite ticket? Those must have been the same or close to last year’s, but perhaps the organization could think about giving more tickets through satellites on the next year’s event, that could be a way to solve the field question.

Even though that there are less than 100 players remaining in the game we have one of the best live tournament players.
As for the first prize i think compared to the last event something was changed on the percentage but still the first prize is really good if you ask me

maybe the competitor numbers are down,that's the economy for you but the 1st prize is still over a million euros which is well worth winning,wouldn't mind getting ITM there either.

WSOPE Main Event Day 3: Cheong Leads Final 24
The bubble has burst and now the final table is in our sights in the Main Event. Lots of big names are still in the hunt including Phil Hellmuth, Liv Boeree, Jason Mercier and David Benyamine. Elsewhere, John Juanda is leading the Majestic Super High Roller.
The remaining players are guaranteed at least €26,611 and those that make the official final table tonight will pocket at least €84,672. Of course, the big prize of €1,022,376 is what everyone will have their eye on.
