History was made in Cannes last night as the Poker Brat has captured the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event and gone into the lead in the Player of the Year standings.
Hellmuth captures 13th bracelet - Phil Hellmuth has silenced the critics once again by winning the WSOPE Main Event in Cannes. He defeated Sergii Baranov heads-up for the title and the €1,022,376 first prize.
Despite all this success and his usual perceived ego, Hellmuth was very gracious and humble after his victory:

"This was the best poker I've ever played in my life, I know that for certain. I played as good as I can possibly play, caught a few breaks and here I am. I'm very thankful."

"I know people don't expect me to use this word, but I'm humbled. I'm trying to figure out if this is real or not."

Well done Phil HELLMUTH...didnt see any of it and didnt follow it, but I like his style of play and his books are pretty good reads and useful to work on. The point he makes about catching a few breaks is just typiical poker, you generally cant win without them!!

have watched it yesterday night at eurosportchannel..

what a crybaby this Phill Helmuth is,,,must be a part of his tactics...rolling on the floor if he gets a hand beaten,,

but when he hits his set 7's on the river,,he just looks at his opponent with a smile,,like : i deserved that last 7 on the river...

although he has some behaverioul issue's i still like his way of playing poker...(should only stop crying)

so the dude has another bracelet and 1 million dollar ,bringing him to a total of 17.5 million
in career winnings. (overall 3rd highest winnings)

I think esfandiari is second and another dude (nr1),won over 40 million in the 80's but he's lost all of it.

lets hope 1 of us mobbers joins the next wsop europe next year in cannes
lets hope this will be me Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile Question Question Question Question Smile Smile Smile Smile

Didn't think he'd be the one taking it down and really wished I could have watched some of it. I'm just thankful that BRM exists so at the very least we can receive updates and information on WSOP topics and other poker news.
