History was made in Cannes last night as the Poker Brat has captured the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event and gone into the lead in the Player of the Year standings. Hellmuth captures 13th bracelet - Phil Hellmuth has silenced the critics once again by winning the WSOPE Main Event in Cannes. He defeated Sergii Baranov heads-up for the title and the €1,022,376 first prize. Despite all this success and his usual perceived ego, Hellmuth was very gracious and humble after his victory:
"This was the best poker I've ever played in my life, I know that for certain. I played as good as I can possibly play, caught a few breaks and here I am. I'm very thankful."
"I know people don't expect me to use this word, but I'm humbled. I'm trying to figure out if this is real or not."

Well done Phil HELLMUTH...didnt see any of it and didnt follow it, but I like his style of play and his books are pretty good reads and useful to work on. The point he makes about catching a few breaks is just typiical poker, you generally cant win without them!!

Didn't think he'd be the one taking it down and really wished I could have watched some of it. I'm just thankful that BRM exists so at the very least we can receive updates and information on WSOP topics and other pokernews.
