The European Poker Tour returns to San Remo, Italy, for its fourth consecutive year. Casino Sanremo welcomes players from across the globe to attend Season 9 of the European Poker Tour at Italy's seaside resort in San Remo. The full event takes place from October 3 - 11 Like other Season 9 EPT stops, the San Remo Main Event has a €5,000 + €300 buy-in which is sure to receive a sizable field. Several smaller side events will also be running alongside the Main Event.

Are you going to attend? Seems like a nice place to visit. I'm off to Caribbean at start of next month for a cruise. I am going to a few islands including St Phillipsberg, home of the Unibet open, unfortunately three weeks before the event. Looking forward to some nice weather and perhaps some good gambling. Just got to get the missus "on board" so to speak.

EPT Sanremo Day 1: Sam Trickett Leads Large Field
With both Day 1a and Day 1b of the PokerStars EPT Sanremo in the books, Sam Trickett currently leads the field. Trickett will be joined by over 400 other players on Day 2, all of whom are aiming for the €800,000 first-place prize. EPT Sanremo Day 2 Over 400 players who survived Day 1a and Day 1b were combined on Day 2 of the PokerStars EPT Sanremo on Sunday. The field is lead by Norwegian Inge Forsmo, and several well-known players are still in the hunt for the title.

i think tournaments organized in italy are doomed for success, just because of mafia members that have plenty of cash and like to spend time at the tables so if the tournament would be called something like "Mafia Open" that would be a total hit- probably the richest series in poker history

Another day of play at the PokerStars EPT Sanremo is in the books, and Norwegian Inge Forsmo has managed to finish with the chip lead for the second consecutive day. The field entered the money on Day 3, and 66 players remain heading into Day 4. The EPT Sanremo has been part of the EPT schedule since Season 4, but the event has never actually seen a native Italian champion. In fact, just one Italian has won an EPT Main Event in the history of the tour - Salvatore Bonavena, who won EPT Prague in 2008. That may soon change, however, as currently the players in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places - Angelo Recchia, Carmelo Vasta, and Giuseppe Ottaviani - are all Italians.

EPT Sanremo Day 4 At the conclusion of Day 4 of the PokerStars EPT Sanremo, just 24 players remained. Among them are Ludovic Lacay, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, and Matt Salsberg. The tournament will continue at 14:00 CET on Wednesday, and the field will play down to an 8-handed final table.

Ludovic Lacay Wins the EPT Sanremo! After 6 days of play, French poker pro Ludovic Lacay triumphed over a 797-player field to become the Season 9 EPT Sanremo champion. Although he's already a well-respected pro, this is Lacay's first major tournament victory.

he 2012 PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Sanremo €10,000 High Roller has wrapped up, and emerging victorious was Benny Spindler to add to his EPT trophy case.
This victory marks Spindler's second EPT High Roller title, and third EPT title. He won the EPT Tallinn High Roller in 2011, and he also won the EPT London Main Event that same year. To claim this title, Spindler had to defeat a very tough final table, and endure a five-hour heads-up match with second-place finisher Keven Stammen.
Spindler began the day second in chips to Joel Nordkvist, but the Swede wound up finishing in third place. When the final duel began, Spindler held the chip lead with 3.409 million in chips to Stammen's 791,000.
After some battling back from Stammen, followed by a double up, the two were much closer to even and talks of a deal surfaced. After some jockeying of the numbers, the two agreed to do a deal where Spindler would take €223,000, Stammen would take €200,000, and then there was €30,000 left for the winner. Well, that winner wound up being Spindler to give him a total score of €253,000.
On the final hand, Stammen moved all in with the {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} — a very good hand for heads-up play — but Spindler had picked up the mother of all hands with the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}. He even had Stammen's suits dominated. The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} to eliminate Stammen and give Spindler the title.
For his win, Spindler earned €253,000, the gorgeous trophy and the magnificent Shamballa Jewells bracelet.

The action there this year was very nice, and now we already know the winners. Benny Spindler won the high roller (thir EPT title) and Lacay won the main event (with two pair against a failed attempt flush draw). In both tourneys there were made agreements between the final HU players, so everybody was happy. About considering entering in the future, think really well about it, these guys are extremely experienced. I’m not saying you shouldn’t go, just go knowing there’s many players knowing a lot about the game.

never played a tourney in italy ... but i had the chance to play a few cash games over there ... what i can say is that there a a lot of money at the poker tables .. aut u can find nd it's hard to find a mocro/low stake game ... but u can find a lot of medium stakes ...
