As an avid live tournament player i was wondering how many other mobsters played live and where/what level of buy-in you play at. i personally have been playing live for nearly 2 years now, the first year in pub games for a cheap introduction to live tournament poker once a week, then twice etc.. The beginning of this year i started going to a poker club in the city to experience a bigger runner and buy-in game and have really enjoyed it, i am at a very comfortable level now playing there and have been running well recently. what about you guys?

I play about 6 times a year at a casino in a £50 buy-in tournament. I'd like to play more but my hometown doesn't have a casino so it means traveling.
I used to play in various pub leagues with a decent level of success, usually making the regional finals. In the end though after seeing many arguments and near fights I decided that pubs and poker really don't mix, so I gave up on that.
I also play a weekly home tourney, nothing big just a £5 buy in with a £5 re-buy. It does fund my online games though.

i sometimes play at our local casino- probably something like once a month or so. nothing spectacular. they have weekly smaller buyin tourneys for 20-30LT (6-9 EUR) +unlimited rebuys and a monthly 100LT (60EUR) again with unlimited rebuys. sometimes i go to our local poker league tourneys- but they suck big time...

i play in a few poker clubs and pub games, i have also played in the APAT a few times. i play in Northern Ireland as that is were i live, but poker has been outlawed here. the only place in the UK were poker is illegal to be played.... i've also went over the border and played in a few casinos in ireland
When i play live games it's usualy just home games. I normally play cash games and if you go to the casino it's practically impossible to beat the rakesystem at the lower levels. Normally at homegames we play with a buy in from 25 to 100 euro.
I prefer online games to build up my bankroll but love to play live as well just for the fun of the game.

Never played live besides the poker you play in a casino against the dealer, the one that most of the times when you have a good hand dealer doesnt qualify

I never played LIVE poker i've played few times HOME GAMES... with buy-in of :-?? ~$10 and rebuys... but take just few times money... a simple calculation ... i think i'm almost 15$ + i want to play live ... but in my city is a live casino but with electronic tables... and i hear there is a lot of collusion... and i don't want waste my money and time with mobsters...
Posted by Macubaas: My live experience is very limited, in fact tournaments i only played with friends...
On the other hand is great to hear that at your local pub you can play some quality games
Used to play at least twice a week live.. Its far better than online, and infinitely more enjoyable.
Mind you, the way they run the games takes some getting used to. Things like remembering to fold in turn when you have utter garbage and not just throwing your hand like you can online.
Cash games can be very lucrative but if you think there are donks online you ain't seen nothing till you've done 2000 hands of £25NL poker.

AND meet some nice, like minded people. made some good friends from the pub games, can talk strategies etc. learned loads from them. At first i didn't understand half the poker terms, but now understand most if not all of them ...and used them all
