Some players are out to play every hand if they can get in cheap. it's hard to know who they are unless you've had time to watch everyone at your table for a while. Then when you get a hand and don't hit you gotta watch how the donk is playing you and hopefully recognize by their actions they got ya beat. Not saying I'd have played it any different then uyyou and would have got beat the same way.
Its a $1 game. The donks are out in force because they can't afford anything more.. Why can't they afford anything more ? Because they are crap poker players and don't know when to fold so they lose all the time apart from the odd exception when they get lucky and flop big.
You did all you could do really. The only thing I would say is you bet the flop and he called. At this point alarm bells should have been ringing and you should have checked the turn ready to fold to if he bets big.
The fact he called all the way to the river suggests to me that he's got an 8 and is slowplaying it, so I would have checked folded the flop.

I agree with this tactic. Anyway you didn't hit anything and he was possible have middle or small pair on flop. Q8 os and hit nut, what can we say ? we have to learn that possibility often happen

just unlucky vs a donkey, don't worry about it.
------------ Oh - just saw river action - don't raise just call here, there's absolutely no value in raising - you're never ahead of the calling range.. Whereas you ahead plenty of the time when you just call. by raising you just fold out the hands you beat and get called by the hands that beat you.

I agree calling after the river was better option (in this case it was only a difference of 357 chips)
You should play more carefully when your raise postflop was called (especially when there s a pair on the table). possible hands that would call :
any pocket pair higher than a 8 any hand including a 8 pocket 33 2 hearts (flushdraw) nothing and just a bluff
just keep in mind , this is a typical 4 BB raise with AK.
for the BB it s only a call of 3 BB, maybe he noticed your playing very tight (i don not know), but then it can be profitable to call and take advantage when you don t get high cards on the flop.
Just think what would you have done if he reraised you postflop. would you have folded AK
Even if he just had pocket 10 s he would have had best chances postflop
After the river you had a good hand but far not the best hand.
So I think your play after the turn was not OK (pre- and postflop OK)

He defended his big blind when he was already quite short on chips, and got lucky with that flop. Not that much you could do here. Nice hand, next hand.
