Recently I won a nice amount in an MTT and I've given a couple of people a few $$$ on here to play with, plus sponsored the christmas event.

I love to see people playing cash games and not freerolls. They are the killing fields of poker and you find nothing in those games that remotely resemble good poker.

Therefore I'd like to get something going where where players put a set % of any games they win at in a fund.Players can then apply for funds ( up to a set limit ) to play with. They however have to agree that they must donate a % of anything they win from that point onwards to the PIF fund.

I am happy to set up some admin for this, and put in a bit to get us started. All funds will be kept in a pokerstars or full tilt account that would be set up ( my wife doesn't have an account so I can use her name for that ). Once we get started players can apply for buy ins to games. As I say, they would agree to pay a set % of EVERY WIN THEY GET ( and we can use sharkscope to track peoples winnings ). With players all combining together we could get more people playing real money games, and give ourselves a chance to build up some money, which we would then use to fund some freerolls.

Its just an idea, but would anyone be interested.

Remember.. if you take from the fund you would be agreeing to donate money every time you win an MTT or SNG. Even if its just 1 cent. It all goes to helping others play.

I would be more inclined to say you have to repay an amount back to the fund. If I get enough interest and I can get the account sorted out then we'll look at it.

Interesting idea; but I fear this: Winning players will probably largely choose to pay their own buyins and keep all their winnings. Losing players, even if they're trustworthy - are only going to drain the account. Simple maths dictates anyone with a negative ROI is going to negatively affect the account.

So I don't see how the fund would 'build' after your initial donation.

Then there's the trust issue - if you start allowing people to apply for buyins - what makes you think they'll contribute back to the fund?

Anyway - seriously I hope it works, it's a really nice idea. But if I had to guess - I'd say it won't work, beyond your initial investment.

the idea to fund players without money, in order to give them chances to play seems very nice. the execution is a different thing- on paper this seems a lot easier than in reality imo.
Lets take PIF Fund into account: i imagine you would start it by putting in $20-50. then anyone could apply for buy-ins...how would you screen them, what would the criteria be, how much of an investment they would receive, would anyone receive it....
now another time consuming issue would be tracking...imagine you have 20-30 players who received buy-ins from PIF Fund...you will need to screen each of them, several times & "remind" them that they haven't payed some of their winnings back if such issue appears on screen...plus there is added risk that people will just lose most the time, and the fund would have to be "reloaded" again & again...would you be very interested in doing that?

Still hat's off for the idea Worship really nice seeing "charity projects" being considered. Who knows maybe this will be a success.

P.S. i think it would be easier to set up "Official Staking Thread"- and do all the staking from there- since i see again & again people asking for cash with no real background on how to do it properly: we could set up some general guidelines on how an application for staking should look like & roll on: we would list the stakers- what amount they are willing to give, to how many players, what terms etc. (constantly update this info)- and hopefully we can create win/win situation for everyone...

Also - if you setup a stars account (a *fund*) account under your wifes name and never actually play any poker on it - just use it to move money around - I would imagine stars would ultimately suspend it and possibly your account too.

Hmm Hmm it will be very tough, just like pochui said, but very generous step Fcumred, let's spice the Idea up and make it better , how about we set up the fund and also Mob point tourney everyday top 100 winner's can apply for the fund everytime they make it to the top 100 and 30 percent of the MTT will be credit to the fund raiser.Or we can issue them tickets or something. How's the Idea Smile

The idea is great but ...

I do not think this will work, as already mentioned by others (trusting the players that use the money,follow-up their results, refunding a % of their winnings, ...)

Besides the fact that most of the time non-experienced players (with no bankroll) will use the funding.

Let s be honest, any west-europena players or from US, Canada, Australia, ... can afford a deposit of at least 10$ (otherwise how did he pay for his PC or internet!!!)

Maybe it s better to give some players a free ticket (or buy-in) for the BRM homegames.

+ check if their a regurlar and actif visitor here
+ easy to check if they get ITM

This seems a good idea but you have the notion you will be gathering a lot of not-used-to-win players that will have an enormous difficulty in contributing with anything for this fund, turning it into a charity fund for hopeless players? I don’t want to be a predictor of bad news, and I don’t mind of joining my name on that, but the rules to use those funds will have to be very explicit. Perhaps only those who contribute with funds to the fund can use them. And the percentage of funds they can use should also be defined. If I generate $0.10/month to the fund I can’t play with the same percentage from money there as someone who generates $10/month. But keep discussing this, lets find a way it works.

That idea of yours needs some work, and most of the reasons has already been
mentioned. The most important though is the banning of the account.
Before setting something like this, ask the permission to do so by PS.
If they approve it, you can continue with the rest

It's not being negative, it's being realistic. If we just blundered forward with nothing more than a positive attitude the scheme would almost certainly be doomed to failure. If we show the potential pitfalls and obstacles before we proceed there will be a better chance of successfully negotiating them, and then yes, the sky might well be the limit.

I'm a bit late to reply and everyone seems to want it to work, but are looking at it through realistic eyes. In most replies! If there's some way to put alimit or controls on just like BRM has here in a sense. I mean we can post and reply all we want, but your only allowed so many points within a 24 hour period same with the safe. your allowed one freebie every 24 hours. I think if someone or a group of you work on these controlling factors and if approved by PS then you have something worth implementing. Just like someone said, you can't have major contributers and then, have some who are just draiuning the account. This would need some careful planning, but is a very good idea to help players. Good Luck!

Hmmmm! There has to be some rules against this, if not in the poker world there must be something in the genral rules of finance which may leave the person running the prohramme atbleast vulnerable to some extent to the other investors who will have some rights against the manager ofnthe fund if its maladministrated or abused. Be very careful what you do.
