Is asking for staking allowed in BRM forums? 0

here's the thing- i've heard some of our brm'ers say that asking for staking is against the rules? so i would like to hear a clear answer for admin...so far the only rule i found regarding asking for money is:

#7 "No begging for money in the forum. We do not want any threads asking/begging for money, not even if you intend on paying it back or even double the pay back. If you need money on a pokersite, request a no deposit bonus or deposit with your own funds."

this is clear & understandable- begging i lame, this shouldn't be happening. but what about staking- especially when it is done in an appropriate manner: i.e. someone post their background, stats etc., or someone offers to stake others according to some rules they think of....would this be ok to post?

short answer is it' not allowed. It basically falls under the beginning for money rule that you quoted.

Of course you can pull it apart and make it a 'gray area' - but basically the nuts of it is 'people who are asking for a stake are essentially asking for money'.

It wasn't always a rule, I've been around here a while as you have too - and in the past it was tolerated and the 'stakes' and 'loans' that went ahead every single time ended poorly and just damaged the reputation of BRM regulars. Personally, I never get involved.

FWIW - I know you never asked for your stake(s) and as far as I'm aware / concerned you haven 't done anything wrong or broken any rules.

I think though, generally speaking; allowing 'staking' becomes a slippery slope. And this really isn't the place for it - it's a no deposit forum, there's better places to go that are better moderated for people who are genuinely interested in legitimate staking deals.

Is probably to cover staking (bold).

well as a former semi pro poker player who was forced to retire on Black Friday because I was living in Virginia USA. I have never asked anyone to stalk me. This said I have been given staking offers many times in the past. I was considered a profitable horse. I have only recently started playing poker again online. ( did play live games ) It seems people remember me from before as I have already been getting staking offers. These offer have been from both family and friends. There has even been one offer from a guy in the USA who I played for in 2 turnaments before. ( I think I cashed in both, at least he said i did.)
My point is this, asking for money or even to be stakes is against the rules.
However if someone offers you a stake and you did not ask for it the you should be allowed to accept it.
Keep in mind this is only what I think.
So Pochui would you like a few bucks sent your way? I'll help you out mate.

yeah i never asked for staking/ nor intend doing that in the future.

Why....do......people....insist on pushing this??? Seriously it makes me so fucking mad Aww crap! Aww crap! [:-
)|] Aww crap! Aww crap! Aww crap!

LET ME SPELL IT OUT ONCE AND FOR ALL. NO EFFING STAKING. End of story. Nothing ANYONE says will change it. As the rules say, if you don't have a roll, request an NDB, Deposit with your own money, or GTFO! Violators of this rule will annoy me, and continue to incur my flaming.

No one, I repeat NO ONE is asking to be staked. All that was requested was a clarification of the rules from the admin. Why don't you get off your high horse and let the appropriate person deal with it. i.e. the admin.

yeah logical opinion. though everyone probably has it's own, that's why i ask for admin to express official brm position on this question

lol that's the 3rd time i'm being offered staking without even hinting that i want one...ok i want to make this clear once and for all- i always love to see people helping out each other, especially when one who is in need really deserves it- now in my case i don't think i am doing anything to deserve staking/attention showed, and besides my ability at poker is very average to say the least. so investing in me is not a very profitable idea imo.
i just find that when someone offers me staking it's hard to say no- because he shows his good intentions & i find it hard to just say "no i dont need your cash" to anyone who is willing to hive a hand.
since now i have this opportunity i would like to thanks all the guys who staked me or intended to:

you all are great people Thumbs Up

now getting back to offer from RoninHarper- you mentioned in your recent posts that you accpted the challenge to turn $20 monthly to $10000 in 2 years. surely you need as much money from the start as possible- so it's better that you keep $ for your long term goal.

if you still find that you want to help out someone here in brm, i can offer you 2 options, but you can easily no to them, no obligations at all:
* i will stake 5 players in our upcoming "official christmas home game" with the bare buyin of $0.11, if you want you can join onboard adding them an option to make 1 rebuy or addon (adding another $0.50 to the initial stake)
* you can donate a much or as little to our christmas home game- there are plenty of brm'ers who already pledged to give some cash for the tourney, and brm supported it with $50 too. btw it would be nice to see you in the tourney too Thumbs Up

From all the members reading the threads here in BRM, its clear you didnt ask for the money,
so you may say this is an exception Smile
Things though are some what unclear, cause its one thing someone asking to be staked,
and another someone staking a person on his own, without previous communication.
For example i believe its permitted if someone considers a BRM member a winning player
and would like to invest in his/her game, and asks to stake that player.
But again BRM has the final word on this.

I suppose you could call it a "gray area" considering how we wrote the rule. Good thing we can always just re-write it if it comes to that Smile

The rule was originally made to avoid lots of beggings threads and avoid our members being scammed of money.

For now though I don't think staking seems to be a big problem in the forum. If someone "new" comes along asking for staking, or someone asking in an unserious matter, he/she is most likely going to not only get shot down by other members, but also be taken apart, buried, dug up again, then thrown in the ocean, pulled up again and finally their remains will be fed to who ever is hungry.

If somebody still goes ahead and gives money to somebody even after seeing lots of other posts "shooting down the other person" and warning against doing it, then I'm afraid we just can't cure stupidity (no offense to those who might have been burned by staking in the past - at least now you know better and can teach others).

If someone serious/regular asks for staking, or is offering staking, then we might just see through it, as long as it's not becoming something that will take over the forum. So yes it's a gray area and the borderline is fluid. Best to just avoid it if you want to be safe, but we might not hit down hard on it even if it does happen. And of course we still don't allow posting e-mail addresses/skype etc in the forum.

Look's like Admin addressed this whole scenairio in a tone, but professional manner to where Pochui is in the clear from the way I interpret it. The thing is, it's your own risk, responsibility and no whining if you lose your money. Personally don't think Pochui would poop on anyone and he started by just asking a question, not asking for staking or money.

I have several $50 cashins worth of Mobpoints in which I can't use at this time. Admin would have to do the work, but what's up? You hearing me Pochui!
